Just what the title says... chapters from my story im working on.
Prologue: The Prophecy Fulfilled(first draft)
She wandered through the halls with a dying candle as she pondered her husbands many recent absences. Many told her that he was bedding down with another woman but she dismissed the thought. Only in her worst nightmares did ths possibility come forth from the darkest recesses of her mind. Her husband was the most loyal man she'd ever met. No. There must be something else. She found herself at the threshold of her husband's study. He had ordered she never go in when he was gone on business. She had never thought of diobeying him until this afternoon. This was the fifth time he left this month without notice. Even though she was with child. Curious, and rebelious despite herself, she opened the oak doors and slowly entered. Suspicious of what was so important she couldn't see she took a long, piercing look around the room. Nothing was amiss among the many bookshelves of kingdom records or the small table inbetween the, uncomfortable though they may be, rough cowhide chairs that were a statement of their wealth. Then her sharp eyes caught sight of a book sticking out of the bookshelf, whereas everything else was in perfect order. She stretched out her arm to fix it, thinking nothing of the suspicious nature, and continued to scan the room.
Crrreeeaaakkk.
She stumbled away from the bookshelf disbelievingly watching as the it sank into an unknown crevice underneath. She shuddered even though it was a midsummer's eve. Growing up in the alleyways of a huge kingdom had taught her discretion. She was worried that she would need it once again. However her curiousity outweighed her evergrowing fear. So, as quietly and slowly as she could manage, she crept into the passageway that arose from the bookshelf's previous spot. It wasn't long before a dank room appeared. It was ancient looking and had the smell and look of earth. She drew the obvious conclusion that the tunnel had brought her underground. There wasn't much but a couple of bookshelves with ratty books and a desk with papers scattered all over.
"This is what he was hiding from me?" she asked herself with a shaky laugh already forgetting the endless course of scenarios that had raced through her head just a few seconds earlier, "A hole in the ground?"
She went to leave but, thinking better of it, decided to stay down and look at the odd collection to avoid the questioning stares of others still up. A closer inspection found the journals to be from an ancient king. She amused herself with the books, finding them to be a collection of fairytales, until she came to the third of the bookshelves which held a series of journals. She only skimmed these, she had never been that good with history, or anything real for that matter. After a while though, she started to really read them and had to go back and read the others. What was so attracting to her was that, even though all of her instincts were telling her otherwise, the king who wrote them continually told of the stories' truth and accuracy. Then she got to the last entry in the last journal.
The journal itself was continually shorter than the rest and said he found what he was looking for. He had never mentioned searching for something let alone what that something could be. Then her face turned white.
The journal told of how he had been looking for a prophecy. He had searched every corner of the planet looking for a seer to predict one thing for him. When he finally found the one seer who could, she didn't just predict the future, no she gave him a prophecy. One that would change the world forever.
She couldn't stop reading it. It told of his fifth descendant who would become king and marry a peasent. He would find the room where the journals were, read them, and continue the prophecy of old which had but one final step- the destruction. His wife would find the journals, read of the prophecy, and complete it. He would pass up his true love and marry one who was kind and soft. But nothing he could do would be able to stop it. She would be a queen to end all queens.
With her hands trembling she looked at the date and did the math in her head.
'No,' a voice whispered in her head. 'No,' it was stronger this time. "NO!" she screamed at the top of her lungs as she realized what this meant.
She, Queen Breonna Raina Lysias, was the wife who was destined to destroy the kingdom and start the new prophecy. From whose line a monstrosity would be created. One that would destroy the new kingdom that would arise from this one's ashes.
Suddenly she was filled with rage against her husband. How could he have hid this from her? He married her to stop the uprising? 'Foolish men,' a voice inside her said, 'He thinks we would try and stop this prophecy? Well then, he'll have a surprise when he gets home won't he now?'
