Hacking. A thing I always knew was possible, but improbable. That is, until a close friend of mine was hacked.
She told it to me this way: "I couldn't believe it was happening. I was on the fourms, as usual, when I noticed my avatar had been changed. And I had a trade request. When I clicked on the trade, I saw that most of my stuff, along with all my gold, was being traded away. So, I declined the request. Or tryed to, at least. This person, this hacker, had changed my password. There was nothing I could do. Before I could fully understand how it had happened, it had been done. My stuff was gone."
People who steal in the form of hacking sicken me. I mean, don't they have anything better to do with their lives? Hacking is theft. It just isn't right.
Sure, my friend might have only had virtual things taken. However, she did pay good money for the collectibles. And hacking can be used to rob real things, too! People who do this are sick. They are hurting people, and why? For their better living.
I have another friend who was hacked, only not as serverly. It was on another website, and she tells my it was just 100,000 virtual points, stolen by an angry ex-friend.
My point is, hacking is wrong. I know that it will probably never stop. But you can help. I'm starting a petition. It will be sent to Gaia Admidistrators to update their security. I mean, my friend was online when this happened. Shouldn't thier be something in Gaia that alows only one computer at a time to have that user online? If there were something like this, it may stop thousands of hacks. And I'm not saying it would've stoped this hack, but it definately would have delayed it.
The petition will be out in about a month or two. If you or a friend have ever been a victim to hacking, sign it. Help to stop it.
