I've returned from San Diego Comic Con, and it was a lot of fun. Of course, I bought too much stuff as usual, but hey—it's only once a year, right? wink
The last time I went (2005) I told myself that it was just too much of a hassle to go on the weekend because there were SO FRICKIN' MANY PEOPLE there you could hardly move around. So I said I'd only go the first two days (Thursday & Friday) because that wasn't as bad. Apparently, that's no longer the case since the place was absolutely nuts with people. Somebody said they were expecting 160K people there over the four days! It's just getting too big and I don't know what they can do about it.
Anyway, on to the stuff I bought! xd
I kinda went a bit crazy at the Square Enix booth and bought a couple hundred bucks worth of figures—all the Kingdom Hearts ones including all four versions of Sora and a couple of Final Fantasy figures for good measure. From J-list.com I bought a region-free DVD player that will let me play DVDs from anywhere in the world in NTSC or PAL format—and it was only $80.00 too. I bought a bunch of other random manga and anime too, but I won't bore you with a list. I did get Volume 4 of Yotsuba&! which I've been waiting ages for—and it's hysterical. Such a funny manga that is totally underrated. I also watched an episode of Strawberry Marshmallow in one of the anime rooms and about busted something laughing—so I came home with the boxed set of it too. xp
I guess I'll go back again next year too, even with the crowds. I liked it better than Anime Expo. I didn't get any autographs this time (most are on the weekend and there were too many people in all the lines anyway), but smaller cons are usually better for that anyway—maybe I'll go back to Anime Vegas in September since I had so much fun there last year.
