A ship hovered above the giant star. This was an ordinary star. Fairly large size, yet far from the largest; medium brightness and temperature. A few ordinary planets orbited this star. One a hot steamy planet, another a frozen land. One planet, however, held life. This life was not unlike that found on Earth. Although more technologically advanced, they had simmilar ways of thinking and acting. That was about to change.
The ship started to move slowly on a collision course with the star. It accerated quickly, reaching its top sub-dimensional speed. Within a few seconds, it was in the upper atmosphere of the star. Flames erupted around it and the metal began to superheat. As the ship pushed farther inwards it began to melt. As it reached the denser areas, it accelerated into dimensional speed, pushing into the core of the star.
The cockpit melted off, it's only inhabitant became a mixture of gasses in an instant. The remainder of the ship pushed forward and the silent countdown continued. Three.... two.... one.... the nuclear reactor of the ship exploded, turning mass into energy. The core of the star collapsed and was gone.
Emptiness filled the center of the star and it started to collapse in onto itself. As it collapsed it became slowly more and more dense and it heated up quickly. Excess energy was formed and it wasn't long before the mass could no longer hold the energy in. The star exploded into a giant supernova. The planets that had been orbiting the star were instantly vaporized. Beings on the inhabitated planet never knew what happened as they too turned to gas.
Just outside the system, another ship carrying explorers from the planet trembled as the shock wave hit the ship. The passengers watched at everything they knew was obliterated by the dying star. Families they knew, foods they liked, places they had enjoyed; all of these things dissapeared in no time at all.
40,000 years in the future, a young human man woke quickly from his sleep...
