Now before you think this is another flame rant or fanboy rant it's not. I'm just tired off all the useless chatter in the AMC where no matter what you say it gets ignored.
My letter to the Narutards:
I know not all of you are as "special" as you come across in your fangasams in the AMC, but a lot of you are. And you need to stop. I understand, you think the characters are just so damn hot they need to be talked about. Perhaps you should join a guild where they do that on a daily basis. Or perhaps you could start using an exsisting thread rather then making eight new ones for the same topic.
You're hurting the fan base intelligents curve. KNOCK IT OFF.
Death Note, In all it's glory and shame:
Yes, the manga is well written. Yes, the storyline is exciting. Yes, the characters are fun to fangasam over. No, it's not okay to try and live like them.
It's a dark, social oddity. It does make some people uncomfortable when they have to express their opinion about it to your face. That's kinda the point. It's perfect for online cults though. And there are plenty. Be careful out on this big old web.
If anyone follows the news you'd know a portion of China has banned it, a section in Taiwain is warning adults to keep an eye on kids, a Belgian murder case has a mild (almost irrelivant) connection to the story, and in Washington state librarians want to give the first volume an award.
Most parents that learn what it's about get a bit jumpy when they hear their kids are reading it. Teachers are keeping a sharper eye on kids notebooks. Once the fad dies down though these fears will deminish.
So long as you use half your brain, you should be alright in reading/watching it. If you can't do that I've made a list of some simple rules for you to follow.
1 - DO NOT MAKE AND CARRY AROUND A REPLICA OF THE Death Note NOTEBOOK! EVER. (Exception to this rule - Cosplay. But be smart about where you wear it.)
2 - DO NOT decide to live your life like Raito/Light/Kira, MisaMisa/Misa Amane/Kira2, Teru Mikami/Kira4 or L/L Lawliet, Near/Nate, Mello/Mihael. You are not a genius. You are not a superstar. You are not an attorney. You are not a genius orphan in a special training school/home. You are just an average human being. Deal with it.
3 - NEVER proclaim your a shinigami. Your not and you never will be. Your just a meat sack like the rest of us.
4 - Use comon sense. If you can't do that then get back to your room, put on your helmet, and color quietly while us big kids read.
