My Adventures in Baltimore
I had quite an adventurous day yesterday biggrin

For those of you who don't know, I usually have to take public transportation to get to and from. I do have a car, but its a bit beat up. If I took it on a major highway, it'd probably fall apart or explode or something. But, its wheels, its my first car, and it was a gift from a friend of the family, so I wasn't going to complain. I live in Bel Air (which is the middle northern part of Maryland), I work in Reisterstown (which is an hour drive south from here), and I go to school at UMBC on the outskirts of Baltimore (which is also an hour drive south from here). So, I take buses, trains, light rails, metros, and commuter buses to get to where I need to go. Its not easy (considering I commute about 4 hrs every weekday), but its what I gotta do if I want to go to school.

The office was throwing a dinner party at a nice Italian restaurant in Baltimore called Amicci's. I was intending on taking an afternoon train to get from home to Baltimore. Unfortunately (due to a certain quick post on a certain guild on Gaia, lol), I was 10 mins late and missed my train. I had to make a backup plan right on the spot, as I drove away from the station. So, what I figured out was that I could avoid the highway if I drove a bunch of back roads up to White Marsh mall. From there, I took a local bus to Baltimore. I also talked my friend and co-worker Derek into picking me up from Baltimore and taking me the rest of the distance to the resturant. I had a little less than an hour to spare when I got to Baltimore, so I went over to my best friend Jason's house and crashed there for a little while.

Btw, the dinner was awesome! I had Chicken Lorendzo (Chicken with Posuitto Ham, cheese, mushroom, and lots of marianara sause, a side of pasta and cheesy garlic bread. Plus, our boss ordered us all kalamari, and this bread dish with jumbo shrimp covered in this incredibly delicious sause. おいしいですねえ。 Plus, it was our bosses treat biggrin He's a bit of a scary person (b/c he's intimidating), but he's very giving, honest, and upfront. Thank you Brian-sama biggrin

Now, granted that the afternoon was a bit adventurous, but it wasn't as bad as what happened that night. After the dinner, everyone was going across the street to get ice cream. It was about 8:30 pm and I told everyone that I was going to get going, because I had a long commute ahead of me. I asked Derek and Garth if they could drop me back off near my bus stop, but they didn't want to because the ice cream shop was right there. So I ended up walking a few blocks down the streets of Baltimore at 9:00 at night razz To make matters worse, I wasn't exactly sure where I needed to catch my bus to get back to White Marsh, nor was I sure what time it was arriving. I couldn't get a hold of any MTA operators too to give me directions, because they all left for the day. So, I had to base the bus stop on my best guess. Fortunately, they have these little boxes at most bus stops which lists all the different times the bus would be arriving. When I finally got to where I thought my stop was, it read "35 to White Marsh" and said I had 5 mins till the next bus. Sweet!

Got on the bus, road the bus for about an hour, got back to White Marsh, got back in my car, and backtracked my way back home.

It was kinda thrilling that I didn't know complete where I was going or how I was getting there. I was just making up stuff as I went. Really put my resourcefulness to the test. Guess I'm pretty good at public transportation ^^V

Whoa! That's crazy! I prolly would have died..... my friends and I think a walk around the school campus is an adventure..... I think that kinda trumps it.

hehe smile Well, when your in high school, I'm sure this kinda stuff seems a little out there.

I've had similar adventures before, where I've missed my bus, taken the train and this and that. But this one was by far my most adventurous, most because I was making it all up as I went. In the past, I usually had an idea and/or my maps on hand in my bookbag. Not this time biggrin

Something very similar happened to my brother and I.

The highschool bus is last priority, so it's always late. When it's late one of our friends usually calls his mother to come pick us up. We have to walk a little ways to get there and my brother had to go get something. I waited for him while my friend went ahead to the designated point. As soon as my brother got back we rushed to where we were supposed to wait for my friends mom to pick us up at nearly double the speed we usually go. When we got there, there was no one.... THEY LEFT WITHOUT US. Sooooo! We could have just walked back and taken the middle school bus but I don't know what we were thinking and we ended up walking to one of my brother's friend's houses but they couldn't help us so we walked some more and more and we finally ended up at a city bus stop and by this point we were STILL pretty close to school and it was hell because of the heavy book bags we had to drag with us. So we waited for the bus. When it finally came we had to get off about two miles away from home so we could wait for another bus. We called my mother and asked her if she could just pick us up because she would probably get there before the city bus. She said she would. Know what she did? SHE DROVE RIGHT PAST US. So we had to wait for the city bus to come (I suppose we could have walked but I was dog tired and I had that stupid backpack) and we didn't have any money.... but they let us ride anyways and we got off down the street from my house. That was Judith's Big Adventure. They should make a movie. It can be the sequel to the movie TJ's Big Adventure. ;D
