Northern General Xao Casili, I had never seen the Northern General fight, but rumors claimed that he was a master at hand-to-hand combat, as well as, a skilled swordsman and archer. His manners had always been impeccable towards the Guardians, and that in of itself was enough to make me nervous. I would rather fight an enemy who has underestimated me, versus fighting a man who has studied me and understands my strengths and weaknesses. I chuckled inwardly, good thing I wasn’t going to have to fight him. This was where Miles and Will were going to have to come through for me.
My hand-to-hand combat was a lot like my handwriting, hard to read and ineffective. I could throw down punches in brawls, but against someone who had trained specifically for hand-to-hand I wasn’t going to win.
Miles on the other hand was a truly skilled fighter; on many levels his own skills exceeded mine. He could best any trained soldier in hand-to-hand combat and archery. He was by far the best choice to face the Northern General, and so I put my faith in my companion and his skills.
