I thought I'd start light in this journal, in more ways than one. This is a very simple, scrumptious, low-calorie smoothie created by Linda Gassenheimer (as if you care). She describes the smoothie in this fashion: "Be transported to the islands with this combination of tangy lime juice, exotic ginger, and creamy vanilla yogurt." Yum.
I love homemade smoothies...
Caribbean Cruise Smoothie
3/4 cup diet ginger ale (or the good stuff, ha-ha) 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (or MUCH more if you like limes as much as I do) 1/3 cup fat-free, light vanilla yogurt (or the regular stuff...) Sugar substitute equivalent to 2 teaspoons sugar (or just sugar, and lots more of it) 1 cup ice cubes (don't you hate it when ice cubes have a poor taste?)
Basically, use the recommended ingredients for a smoothie that is only 27 calories per serving. For a much better tasting one, go for the sugar. Either way, you're at least eating lime juice and yogurt. stare
Place in a blender: diet ginger ale, lime juice, yogurt, and sugar substitute. Blend 15 seconds or until smooth. Add ice cubes and blend 20 to 30 seconds or until thick.
Add more of certain ingredients to your taste. Tell me if you like it. smile
