Description of Weapons - 力丸 (Rikimaru - The Strong One){Katana} and 久気丸 (Kukemaru - Infinite Spirit){Wakizashi}: This daisho is a set of simple swords with slightly curving blades and dull, black, lacquered saya (sheaths). The tsuba (hand guards) are a silhouette of two cranes in flight circling around the blade. The hilt wrapping is done in a deep green cord over pale yellow same (shark skin) and two crane menuki (hilt ornaments) are held between the cord and same. The sageo cords are also deep green and tied up into a cho-musubi (butterfly knot) pattern when not in his belt.
Abilities -
鶴流 (Tsuru-Ryu): Using a Katana, Wakizashi or the two simultaneously, this martial art translates to the Crane Sword Style. The name of this style is meant to represent the idea that the swords of a samurai daisho are used to maintain peace. The crane is symbolic of peace and as such is the namesake for the school. Requiring a great deal of flexibility and insight, a practitioner of this style must learn to react quickly when dealing with an opponent, efficiency in striking, and often uses techniques not seen in other kinds of swordsmanship (such as striking with the flat of the blade to knock an opponent unconscious). Koji will neither confirm nor deny his status in this school believing his spirit and skill speaks for itself.
弓術、合気術 (Kyujustsu, and Aikijutsu): These are the arts of the bow and unarmed combat respectively. These bujutsu are also practiced by Koji in the idea of cultivating his spirit and living by the ideals of Bushido. Koji claims that he wishes it were not so, but he is not as skilled in these ways as he is in swordsmanship.
気 (Ki Focus): Koji can physically manifest his inner spirit into powerful energy that glows in an aura around him. This energy can be molded and transformed into many different forms. Most commonly it is manifested as heat, wind, and/or electrical energy. He uses this ability reluctantly because of it's ability to be immensely destructive and deadly.
Appearance - Koji is tall (approx. 6'0"
wink with blond hair and of a thin, but muscular build (approx. 175 lbs.). His right eye is milky white with a scar running away from his eye across his nose. Typically he covers his bad eye with an eye patch, his other eye is blue. He wears a simple green and gold kimono and hakama.
Bio (short) - Orphaned by his parents he was raised by farmers in a small province until the age of 10. Koji ran away from his surrogate home after finding out he was not the son of the farmer and his wife. He was taken into the Daimyo Nobukawa's service and trained in the Tsuru Sword Style while serving in the Daimyo's army. Several years later the Daimyo lost power, his army was disbanded and the province fell to a larger kingdom. Koji fled and went on a pilgrimage to increase his skills. During his travels he met a young woman named Zaree. Seeking to protect herself she took up the way of the sword as Koji's student and the two of them quickly fell in love. They have now settled in a small village (Murasame-chou) that Koji purchased from a Daimyo with money and connections established during his travels.
