"Are you certain, my son?" The deep reckoning of the Fire king's voice called out from his firey gate of his keep. No one could see the King of Fire once he had taken the thrown, not even his son. Not even his wife.Oh, Derran's father was indeed human, with mastery of all things fire. He wasn't King of Fire for nothing.
"Yes, father, I am certain. This main weilded the power of water at his will, but his did not kill anyone that encountered him in battle." Derran paced left and right in front of the gate. "Father, I have learned much from Master Terrine, I think I am well enough to take on this foolish traveler who has unwittingly entered our borders." Derran thought hopefully and looked back at his father for an answer.
The shadow of agiant and powerful man could be seen through the flames, but that was all. Derran had almost forgotten what his father looked like. "Hmm," The king grunted. "Very well, but do not fail me, for if you do, you have no reason to return. Understand!?" The King of Fire bellowed.
Derran smiled happily. "Yes, Father, I won't let you down. I will bring that unworthy, scum's head back, as a trophy. And proof that the fire nation will indeed win this war. Thank you, father, I shall return."
And Derran ran swiftly from the entery of the gate to a mere five feet from wence he stood. "Wait!" His father called out. Though it was an order, it didn't feel like one. Derran halted, and about faced.
"Yes, father?"
"While you're on this quest, please do you old man a favor and search for th Eyes of Tarin. They grant the wearer ultimate sight. And with it, I shall know everything the enemy does. And therefore end this war sooner than we need to expand it."
"Understood, Father, I shall not only return with this man's head, but also the Eyes of Tarin, as you command. I only wish to make you proud, sir." And Derran bowed respectfully before exiting this domain of fire soon to be his own.
