This is something I wrote a year ago or so. I never got around to putting an actual ending on it. I will someday, but I thought I would share it with everyone.

Duel for a loved one


The air was thick with anticipation, dark clouds covered the sky. Two big birds flew over head, waiting. For they knew someone was going to die. Standing on one side of the field was a man dressed in a green tunic with brown leather pants. He wore a black belt with a straight bladed sword holstered to it. He had a medium build and had blond wavy hair that reached to his shoulders. His boots were brown leather of same make as the pants. He stood there ready for a fight.

Standing maybe 100 feet across from him is another man. He wore brown short hair and tan skin. He wore a red tunic with black leather pants. He wore a pair of black boots of same make as his pants. He wore a gold colored belt with a slightly curved bladed sword holstered to it. He was of a larger build than the blond swordsman. He stood staring, no glaring across at the blonde swordsman with what could only be described as murderous intent. He wanted to fight and wanted to do it now.

They stood there glaring at one another for what seemed like forever before a women’s voice broke through the deadly tension. “Stop this please! You don’t have to do this!” The blonde swordsman warring glare turned instantly soft. He turn and faced his beloved Elena and said “Sweet heart please I told you to stay at the house. I must do this, if I don’t they will take you from me. I will not let that happen, you are my everything. Now please go back to the house” Elena looked at him and started to sob “I don’t want anything to happen to you my love, you are also my everything.” With that said she rapped her arms around him in a loving embrace and pressed her lips against his. When their lips parted the blonde swordsman said “ Do you really think I will loose? Have faith my love for I have not lost a fight yet nor have I slowed or lost my touch.” He kissed her again and then told her to go back to the house, she refused. He finally was able to get her to go when he explained he wouldn’t be able to fully concentrate with her there.

With his beloved gone the blonde swordsman turned his attention back to the man standing across from him. The man had not moved at all even during that talk with his wife. If he had wanted to he could have attacked while he had been distracted. The silence was broken this time by the brown haired man. “Well wasn’t that just so sweet. Two people in love such a lovely thing. I can see why you don’t want to give her up she is a tasty looking one isn’t she haha don’t worry I’ll take very….good care of her.”
The blonde swordsman looked as though he was going to explode he was visibly trembling his hand clinched tight around the hilt of his sheathed sword. “You b*****d! You will not touch her I will see to that you cur, you will be dead!” he screamed.


The blonde swordsman drew his sword in a flash and dashed forward with all the speed and grace of a dancer. The brown haired man drew his curved blade and laughed then plunged forward. The brown haired man took the first swing. It was a downward slash meant to cleave the blonde swordsman’s skull in two. As it came down it made a whoosh as it swished through thin air. The blonde swordsman had spun around to the left bringing his sword around to strike at his side. The brown haired man didn’t stop his motion of cleaving and brought his curved blade around knocking the blonde swordsman’s sword to the side. Then the brown haired man turned and thrust forward at the blonde swordsman’s exposed midsection. As the blade came in the blonde swordsman jumped to the side just in time to miss being hit, though in his hasty jump to dodge he lost his footing and stumbled backward.

The brown haired man let out a laugh and yelled “Tonight I’m going to show her the time of her life.” Then he jumped in to take advantage, but let out a surprised yelp. As the brown haired man jumped in and thrust his sword forward, the blonde swordsman found his footing and brought his sword out in a quick swift parry knocking the curved blade just enough to the side to allow it to miss hitting him. As he parried he shifted back and thrust his sword into the brown haired man’s stomach. The man let out a grunt and a look of surprise fell across his face….

The blonde swordsman looked at him with fury, and then said “It seems you will not be having a good time tonight or any night for that matter. I will forgive you for your words die in peace.” Then the blonde swordsman rose stood up and turned and sheathed his sword. He then began to walk away.

Sitting there bleeding to death, the brown haired man’s face still showed surprise and shock over this turn of events. He barely heard the words that were said by his opponent. He saw him begin to stand. Now he saw him starting to walk away as if nothing had happened then something snapped….

His face contorted with fury and rage, he clinched his teeth and grabbed for his hidden dagger. His hand found it. He pulled it free and with a wide grin of glee he poised to throw it at the blonde man’s back……..Then he threw it.

It went soaring it was straight on course. The dagger was aimed right for the blonde man’s upper back. Then a scream came out of no where. “Look out!!!!!!!!” It was that of a desperate panicked scream of one in dire distress. The blonde swordsman reacted to his beloved’s voice in an instant. He shifted to the left as quickly as he could. Unfortunately it wasn’t quick enough…. The dagger struck him and sunk into his upper left shoulder. He let out a grunt and stumbled…..

“Gran!!!!!!!!noooo!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Elena. She ran with wild abandon to her husband. Who was now in a sitting position in the grass trying to reach the dagger in his back. As Elena drew near and saw him she broke out in tears.
