Night had long fallen, the temperature had dropped Kierstien could tell by the air in the cellar that it was nighttime. She couldnt hear any noises outside.. Ariel had told her to stay put and not to leave the basement for ANY reason.. But she thought she heard something.. Laughter. And not the kind you hear around the dinnertable.
Kierstien Crept out of bed.. and up the stairs, peeped one eye through a small crack in the door she saw Ariel's house was empty but the lights were on inside. She took a chance a pushed the door open a little more, stepping out into the hut of Ariel.
She looked around... Everything was quiet.. maybe even too quiet. Slight orange could be seen through the crude window and she felt a dangerous feeling come over her. Something was wrong! She went to the front door and opened it... Oh... Artimus was the least of her worries seeing what was before her...
Kierstien looked up the row of buildings, her feet planted in the ground, after the door closed behind her... her eyes staring straight ahead. She could see no movement other than a few pieces of stone falling past her eyes onto the ground here and there. The larger ones sent loud echoes through the sand covered alleyway as they dropped onto the ground.
Bodies still and bloodied lie on the ground.. Blood was strewn up the sides of the buildings, coloring them a disgusting, sickening deep red color. The puddles on the ground were tainted blood red. The water flowing on the ground streamed of red... as fast as the rain could fall it seemed to change color as soon as it hit the ground.
Kierstien's chest heaved slightly.. the sight of destruction before her was so unbelievable, and completely unexpected.
Then she heard it.. a cresendo of evil laughter ringing in her ears.. it echoed against the buildings making the source that much harder to locate. She knew then obviously the last one standing would be the cause of this. She might have given the benefit of the doubt.. but the pride in this laugh she was hearing told her that this villian was proud of what he had done, and was now relishing in the death he had caused.
The rain fell harder now, the droplets stinging her skin as they fell onto her, The gods were angry. She could no longer hear single drops of rain, it now sounded like a steady hum. She was about to call out into the air, "SHOW YOURSELF" When her keen eyes caught movement moving forwards, her eyes bolted to the form noticing that it was covered in blood. There was no fear in his stride as he stepped away from the wall coated in blood.
She would not draw her weapon, he would most likely not realize the powers she contained. She would instead channel her energies using the blood tainted puddle beneath her feet to make her attack just that much stronger than if she merely had to summon it from within. She may be able to gain the upper hand using the element of surprise, as he would not be expecting anything but the use of physical force. She kept her eyes locked on his dark form and watched his every move as he stepped into the street, she noticed his eyes, how they looked at her.. steadily gazing at her, unblinking.
They were a good bit away from each other, but still visible. Kierstien's arms raised defensively.. "Who Are You!" She spoke loudly and with a stern voice towards the stranger. She kept her questioning brief and to the point. Her eyes slitted as she looked to him, the feeling of rage building within her knowing that he was the cause of all this, and for what? Just for fun? Just to do it? She would never understand the thought processes of evil minds.. no matter how many years she put herself in harms way for the greater good.
Kierstien's shortsword was at her side, for closer range combat, though she could most likely pull off three shots to his chest with her bow, he was at just the right distance right now to have a clear shot at him. But she refrained only for the sake of using this to her advantage to do the unexpected, possibly catching him offgaurd and leaning the battle in her favor right from the start.
She glared at him, the rain pelting her skin hands in front of her ready for him to make a move, the whole time her mind was racing, though she had a strange calm come over her at the same time. She was not afraid of battle, it was in her blood to protect the innocent.
