I have not written to you in a while, my journal. Things in Rausten have bound my time and energy to service rather then getting rid of my personal burdens. I worry for Rausten and the people of this world. I wonder at the government structure in Rausten. How can I effectively lead my nation while adhering to the needs of everyone in the world? It is hard enough for some to do either, but I must combine them in a way that balances. I have a moral obligation to defend those in Dorishna, Amestris, and Kreiger as well, but as a political leader my nation must come first. All human life is equal. I am no more valuable than the impoverished. I still heavily rely on others to aid me in my times of need. A Balance must be found, but how? How have the Abbotts before me accomplished their goals? The morality of the Church is often used in a desecrating matter to further political aims. Is the union of the two effective? I read in the writings of the previous Abbott, Abbott Petre the Wise, a quote that intrigued me. "If man's rulers of State are corrupt and immoral, the Church cannot stand for virtue. If the Church is corrupt, the virtue that established the State will descend into violent tyranny that has no limitations or obligations to its people."(Abbott Petre the Wise, 76th Abbott of Rausten) It seems that if this is true, then by combining the two structures, we are only recognizing that they can never be fully seperated anyways. Even if there were Secular Revolution, the Church would still effect the people's morality. If we moved to exclude the people out of the political process and moved to a full theocracy, then the people would still look at their status under the laws for guidance. The two can never be separated, I know see that the founders saw it foolish to attempt a separation of two things which will always influence each other.
