Kaneren is the AI created by Lieutenant Masahiro Takeda. She is an advanced prototype sentient artificial intelligence and is currently the pinnical of AI development. Kaneren is a flash clone of three individuals' psyche. These individuals are Major Motoko Kusanagi, Lieutenant Masahiro Takeda, and General Hatsumi Shinobi. Her unique mind is the combination of these three extroardinary people. Kaneren's virtual appearance (which is Kaneren herself), appears very similar to Motoko Kusanagi's prosthetic body. She is completely nude (she hides her private parts; mainly her nipples and groin) and has transluscent and light red skin. Her hair is transluscent and is black with dark orange highlights. The irises of her eyes are yellow. She has computer coding and characters scrolling vertically over her entire body, except for her eyes. Kaneren is a somewhat bitter AI. Her frustration and envy of humans has driven her to somewhat despise them. Although, her true hatred lies in other AI. She views herself as completely superior to other AI, refusing to even acknowledge their place in the world. Her interactions with humans vary between person to person. Based on a number of criteria, Kaneren will decide whether or not they are superior or inferior to herself. Motoko Kusanagi, Masahiro Takeda, and Hatsumi Shinobi are all in Kaneren's favor due to the fact that she is made up of these three minds (she doesn't know this). This blunt and biased basis for decisions of Kaneren's favor has given her a severe superiority complex. Despite all of these flaws, Kaneren means well and tries her hardest to do the right thing. As an AI, she has difficulty understanding morality. She has no regrets of damaging property or even frying someone's cyberbrain in order to fulfill an task for the greater good. Scolded by Hatsumi Shinobi, who took Kaneren under her wing after Masahiro Takeda was killed in combat, Kaneren is beginning to understand right and wrong and is becoming ever more human, much to her liking.
