The scummy water of the river Stig lapped against Xii's boots. She swept a few strands of cropped hair behind her ear. How Xii stuck out since she dyed it purple. How people stared.Xii just stared back, her eyes an angry green*, daring them to comment. Xii gazed midway over the water with pale blue eyes. The sound of a jet engine overhead brought her out of her reverie. Xii sighed and looked away. Nothing would be achieved by living in the past. It had been almost two full years since it had hppened. Xii sighed again and began to walk home. She needed to get back before the fog set in. There were stories about what happened to people who stayed out after the poisonous cloud of gas settled over the city at night. Xii walked quickly through the darkening city, increasing her pace as the sun sank below the horison. If Xii didn't get home soon, she'd be cought in the middle of the noctious bank of cloud that spanned a fifty square mile radius.Xii started running, a frenzied dash to get to her top-story flat, five streets away. The sun had dissapered, leaving a pink and gold stain on the sky. She wasn't going to make it. this thought permiated Xii's oxigen starved brain. She wasn't going to make it. She was going to die. Already Xii could see little wisps of vapour close to the ground. She could smell it, an acidic, soulfuoric smell. It would enter her bloodstream, and poison her blood, and she would writhe in agony untill it reached her heart. Her body would be found in the morning, buried in an unmarked grave, and Xii Kia would disappear just as misteriously as she had appeared. Xii slowed to a halt, and tried not to breathe too deeply.
*Xii's eyes change color acording to her mood. Green is when Xii is feeling angry, annoyed or devious. When she is sad, Xii's eyes are blue. The lighter the blue, the more unhappy Xii is. The same applies when Xii is happy, only her eyes vary between dark brown and yellow.
