After eating breakfast, I put on a pretty gold-and-black dress. There were cherry blossom designs embroidered on it. I hoped it would match my eyes. Once again I tried to do something with my hair, but it was just too darn slick. Finally I put the brush down and gathered my books in the living room.
I wasn’t sure when Rajic would come; we hadn’t specified a time. I just set to studying as much as I could. Maiko was out with Katari. I wasn’t sure where Aphrodite was, but I had a suspicion she was out with her boyfriend.
Soon it was noon, and I ate lunch by myself. Where could he be? I wondered. Just as I was going back to my studying, the doorbell rang. Rajic stood in the doorway. He was even cuter than when I saw him last night. He was wearing an emerald green tunic with a shoulder bag. His big gray eyes were shaded by his shaggy black hair, and were once again looking straight into mine. I couldn’t help but blush.
“Sorry I’m late, I had to spend an extra hour with the professor. Are you ready for your first lesson?” He asked “Come in! I kind of already started. How about beginning with the Eclipse?” We chatted, discussed different leaders, and I learned way more about the Fire Nation than I expected to. Three hours later the discussion turned to me. “So you’re a refugee, Akari? Where are you and your sisters from?” “We’re, uh, from the Fire Nation.” No one had specified what country we were supposed to come from, so I told the truth. “Our mother died, so, uh, we came here to live with our, uh, aunt.” “I see.” He paused, glancing at my hair again. “How did you get such beautiful hair?” he murmured, coming closer to me. “That’s a very distinctive Water Tribe trait.” “I don’t know.” I lied uncomfortably. He reached up a hand to my chin. “I think you’re lying, Princess Kya.”
