I had come to a point of having nostalgia about game remakes. Some of the games, refurbishing them to suit later game systems is pretty cool. However, sometimes, you can't beat the classic old school graphics. Take Final Fantasy 4 for example. When it was released to the US, it was Final Fantasy 2. Yes, I am talking about the one that was on the Super Nintendo with Cecil Harvey and Rosa. Golbez and the ultimate baddie whose name excapes me at the moment. I remember being fascinated with the awesome graphics and wanted to play it as much as I could! Remember, this was back in the day BEFORE we have playstation, when Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis were the cutting edge in video game graphics. I remember a few years ago thinking about it and going to Amazon.com to find that iwas released for the Game Boy Advance. I was like HELL YEAH!!! Then I purchased it the following payday. The graphics were as I had remembered them, and there was only one extra feature where you could get everyone at the end & special quest. I was like okay, I can deal with that. I was happy to get my old school graphics back. The DS version that I was looking forward to seeing... OMG!!! It was just the same storyline with MAJOR changes to the game. This Whyt thing that they have added... WHAT THE HELL!!! Then this Auto-Battle feature? Like really? Then they had to go and change the namingway to where you could not rename anyone, not even Cecil when he offers to. Instead he performs many different features the times that you go and talk to them. The storyline is the same though, or at leat 98% of it is with the addition of Whyt. My reccomendation is that if you were in love with it when it was the older graphics, don't get the DS version if you can find a copy of the GBA version. I am not going to sell my DS version of four, but some of the changes to it have broken my heart. I guess they added Whyt for educational purposes. They have a feature that you have to do mini games and stuff like that to build him up. I ignore it most of the time. (Stupid creature that shouldn't have been added). Graphically, it could be gotten used to, but the changes to the system are a major OUCH! I guess in short, some things are just better off left alone. What do you think?
