Listening to: N/A
Feeling: Only slightly awake
So a few friends and I went to see Insidious on Wednesday. I don't know if you've heard about it or not, but apparently it's kind of a big deal. Additionally, if you haven't seen it yet but are thinking about it, then I suggest you watch it. It's very good and not one of those crappy 'a-murder-a-minute' films that pretend to be horror films, but really don't do any more than startle you a bit when the bad guy jumps out from behind a curtain or something. The bloodiest thing is a hand-print on one character's bedsheets. And honestly? The fact it was a lot more psychological and less bloody is enough for it to easily be the best horror film in recent years (Although to be fair that's probably not all that hard to accomplish, what with just about every horror film in recent years being a steaming pile of fail).
But no. This is little gem is the forbidden b*****d love-child of the makers of Paranormal Activity and Saw (Just in case you haven't heard) so it's bound to be good. X3
Although I generally felt the second half was lacking, there was one scene which I have been convinced for the past 2 nights is going to give me nightmares. Without wanting to give away too much, as soon as you hear one character say "he's looking at us", then the frame almost immediately after that is one of nightmares in my opinion. It's just so... Ominous - for lack of a better word.
So that little pseudo-review up there was just to get my opinion of it out of the way. What I really wanted to say was that this film had me sleeping with the light on on Wednesday night - something I've not done intentionally since I was about 8 - and still had me spooked enough last night to occasionally flash the light from my mobile phone into the darker corners of my room just to check no one was standing there.
So yes. It was more than just a little bit scary. Or maybe I'm just a wuss.
That is all.
