"One candle for mama, one candle for papa, one candle for Shitrah, and one candle for Chritah," Kitsune mumbled under her breath. It wasn't long before the listening spell would break and she would have to leave the temple.
"Are you cold, child?" a voice asked, soft steps walking up behind her on the cold stone floor.
Kitsune turned to face a tall woman with black and red eyes, dressed in a white priestess gown, hood on her head, hiding what appeared to be a pair of fox ears.
"Mother Inari-san!" Kitsune exclaimed, turning in her kneeling position and bowing to the head priestess of the temple.
Mother Inari was another fox demon, like Kitsune herself. But unlike Kitsune, she was a well respected citizen of the town. Mother Inari had taken the young assassin demon in when she was abandoned by her two parents. Inari, along with Shitrah and Chritah, had raised the fox demon to be one of the best at using all the aspects of a fox demons powers. It was important in Crateh to be able to use everything you could. Battles between fox demons and human had been going on for centuries. Mother Inari was the only one respected by both sides, and it had been this that had given Kitsune a good name to the humans, one that couldn't be tarnished unless they found out that Kitsune was a hired assassin for the fox demons.
"Come child, we have much to discuss before your assignment tonight." Mother Inari took Kitsune's hand and lifted her up, and the two of them walked into another room.
