Hi, you know me as Siyren. I might be a little crazy at times, But my heart's always in the right place. <3
And so it begins...
Prologue

The day was bright, almost too bright. Mikki skipped down the porch steps of the little cottage in the woods that he shared with his parents, landing on the soft dirt below. Today's my birthday! The now 5 year old boy thought to himself.

You might think that a little boy on his birthday would be excited about getting presents, meeting friends and family, having a party, and everything that came with being an ordinary kid. But this boy was as unordinary as a kid could be. He had no friends, and the only family he had were his mother and father, who he cared for more than anything else in the world. Well.. he cared for his mother more than anything else in the world. His father was somewhat of a mystery. Whenever he smiled at his son, Mikki would get an uncomfortable feel deep inside his soul. To him, everything his father did for him seemed fake and without feeling. Like he was playing some kind of game. But Mikki always overlooked this flaw.

Birds chirped in the treetops overhead. Mikki smiled and ran to the little garden that was off to the side of the house. He poked his head into a small bush. His smile widened as he spied the thing he'd hidden the day before. Mikki had decided to surprise his mother by giving her a gift, instead of the other way around. He felt please with his plan. Imagining the look on his mother's face when he gave it to her made Mikki almost want to leap with joy!

As this thought was crossing the young boy's mind, a blood-curdling scream echoed though the trees.

Mikki's heart seemed to stop beating. He ran around the side of the house, stopping dead in his tracks as a gut-wrenching met his eyes.

His mother was laying on the ground, blood pouring onto the dirt from a wound in her neck. Standing over her, smiling a deadly cruel smile. A bloody knife was gripped in his right hand. When he spotted Mikki, his smile grew even wider. "Well good morning kid." He growled.

Mikki stared at his father. "Dad... what happened? W-what did you do?"

"Oh this-" He nudged Mikki's mother with his toe, "I killed her."

"No!" Mikki gasped. "It can't be true! You loved her! D-didn't you?" An icy coldness gripped him.

"Love?" Mikki's father asked. "What would you know about love? Come to think of it, what would I know about love? I've never felt it. Never wanted to. The past 5 years that i've spent with you were just a game. And i'm tired of pretending."

The horror of those words hit Mikki like a physical blow. The boy fell to his knees. "I-it can't be true.." He started to sob."

"Well well well." Mikki's father sighed, "I thought that maybe you'd be one of us. But we don't feel emotion. Actually, i might be the only one left... it doesn't matter. You'll die here. With no one to take care of you, it seems improbable that a human boy at your age would be able to survive in a forest such as this." He turned and started to walk away.

It took a moment for the meaning of his father's words to sink into Mikki's grief stricken brain. He staggered to his feet. "Wait!" He called, and chased after his father, grabbing at the hem of his cloak.

With inhuman speed, Mikki's father spun around and slashed the boy across his small chest. Mikki fell to the ground. "Oh, you're not dead yet." Mikki's father sighed heavily. "Why couldn't you just take the easy way, and die of starvation or something? Now you've gone and caused yourself to have a painful death." Mikki struggled to lift his head off the ground as his father disappeared into the trees.

Am i going to bleed to death? he asked himself.

Time seemed to flow by excruciatingly slow. Mikki waited for the end. When nothing seemed to be happening to him he gathered all his strength and forced himself to look down at his chest. The wound spread from his left hip all the way to his right shoulder. Mikki knew nothing about healing, yet the bleeding had stopped. He twitched his fingers and found that they worked just fine. He forced himself to sit up. Pain exploded through his mind, and he fell back to the ground.

Mikki had never known hate. Didn't even really know anything about hate, except for the word itself. But now, the unfamilliar feeling welled up inside of him. Consuming him from the inside. His father's words echoed through his mind "What would I know about love? I've never felt it. Never wanted to. The past 5 years that i've spent with you were just a game."

Just a game.. Mikki's anger swelled to dangerous level. Who is he that he can play with peoples emotions? What right does he have to take away everything from the people that he claimed to care for? Mikki's angry thoughts took on a dark reality. Someone like that doesn't deserve to be alive in this world. With extraordinary determination, Mikki dragged himself to his feet, and staggered back to his mother's body. "I'll kill him for this." Mikki cried softly. His tears falling onto his mother's face. "I don't care what happens to me, father can't get away with this!"

Far away, a little girl was dreaming. Dreaming of a little boy crying and screaming oaths to the heavens. No matter how hard she tried to comfort him, he never heard her.
