Alice sighed as she sat on a tall rock, over looking the Land of Fire and Brimstone. She let her Vorpal Blade run across her skin, it felt good to feel pain, to see her blood form in her palm. Why, she didn't know.
There he was. Her guilt. The Jabberwock had taken flight and was leaving the building that so resembled her now charred home. She didn't understand. He was a beast, a monstrosity. Why was she so attracted to him?? His cool voice? His powerful demeanor? Or was she just a foolish little girl that couldn't resist his charms?
She drew up her knees. She wanted someone, ANYONE, to hear her silent please. Why was the Cheshire Cat there in battle, but never there when she REALLY needed advice, however cryptic? The White Rabbit was dead. The Mad Hatter was dead. The Gryphon was no where to be found. She was alone...
The Jabberwock sighed in annoyance, he was out on another assignment for the Red Queen. He was to find her more servants, more compatible servants at that. He growled in frustration, if she didn't keep on resourting to kill all her servants then this wouldn't happen! He was so irritated he just wanted to burn something, even with all the lava flowing around him.
He flew over a very large hill, heading towards the Looking Glass Land, when he saw her. There was the little ignorant daydreamer. There was the person making his life difficult, the one Wonderland centered around. The one he couldn't keep his mind off of.
He shook his head, that's not something guilt should be thinking! He should be trying to find more ways to blame her, pin her to the ground, frighten her (No wait, that's Hatter's job), kick her while she's down! Not fratenizing with the thoughts of feeling for her! Never the less, he found himself landing near her and walking up to her. He leaned his head down and his voice took on a rather gentler tone then what he usually used.
"What seems to be troubling you, late one?"
Alice looked up, her grip on her blade became tighter, her knuckled glared white under the strain. What did this creature want?
"Nothing troubles me, Guilt," she said, a bit harsher han she intended. But who was to tell her what tone she could or could not use?! Her expression softened, but her grip did not.
Jabberwock nodded, and he noticed the blood on her hand. He would've grabbed it were it not for his large claws, and the risk of the knife she held.
"From the looks of it, either you're getting clumsy or there is something wrong with you." He gestured towards the cut on her palm. "Had a little fight with a card guard? They usually go for the neck."
Why was he worried about her?
Alice frowned. "Nothing is wrong," she said. "I did that myself. A Card Guard couldn't damamge me." SHe looked away. "...Why so concerned, anyhow?"
"I see..." The Jabberwock looked at it warily, he didn't like the way red stained her hand like that. It almost frightend him.
"I'm not concerned, just curiouse. Like you were when you first came here." He gently raised a claw half heartedly, then thought better of it. He knew how well she could use a knife.
"I must be going, the Queen can not wait it seems." He lifted his wings to take off.
Alice flinched as his claw raised, but was confused as to why he didn't attack. "...Good bye..."
The Jabberwock lifted high into the air and flew off into the sky. He beat himself up, but for what he did not know. Eventually he got to the Looking Glass Lands, and promptly ran straight into a mirror.
Alice sighed and walked down towards the lava floor, only to find her cryptic guide. "A strange way to overcome your guilt," the Cheshire Cat said. "But effective nonetheless. He did not fight you, that is good." "NOW, you choose to appear?" Alice demanded. "I needed you before! Why is it that you choose to appear when I DON'T need you, but you are non existant when I DO need you?!" That grin stayed on his face. "Because your daydreams and fantasies are not in need of my instability," he said, before waving a paw at the house. "There is your destination. Are you ready?" "...Always," Alice said, taking a leap from stable ground to rocking mass of volcanic rock.
Jabberwock moaned as he got up from the ground, masauging his aching head. He shook his wings out and looked at his suroundings. Strange...he was back in his lair.
He ran a hand over his head and felt...fur on it. He took a long, red lock of fur into his tan hand and looked at it...then noticed his hand was no longer green, or clawed.
"What...?" He examined his body frantically, and noticed that, though he still had his wings, his claws had been changed to hands and feet. He now had a full head of red hair, and his skin was now a dark shade of pink. He also noticed that his tail was smaller, and came off of the ground now, and was thinner.
He stood up tall on his two strong human legs, and he was rather skinny and bony, for as a monster he didn't have much in the muscle department. He cursed as he realized what had happend.
"Damn those mirrors...."
Alice was cursing that mangy Cat with every word she knew. SHe was clamboring up the volcanic rocks, dirtying herself, while he had a jovial time, teleporting hither and thither. One day, she thought to herself. One day, she's hit that kitty hard. "The summit is in reach, Alice," Cheshire said. "A bit further now, you can do this."
Jabberwock, now naked and frail by his standards, attempted at walking on his new human legs. He tripped and fell at least four times before his got it right.
"Well..that's taken care of..now for flying."
He attempted to get off the ground and found, to his liking, that he could do it just fine, even if he was still a bit clumsy with new human limbs.
"Now...I hope I can fight in this form."
He doubted it. He hightly doubted it.
Alice finally reached the front doors of the house. She feared going in. She feared it immensly. But she turned the doorknob and pushed it open.
"Who's there?!" she called. "By my incisors..." Cheshire Cat sighed. "...It couldn't possibly be any luckier for you!"
Jabberwock landed on the ground and crouched into a defensive stance. He was still taller then Alice by a head, but that was nothing compared to his previouse hieght. Not only that, he was still naked, but he didn't really care.
"You're rather late." He had a feeling the taunt had lost it's menace with his new body.
Alice blushed. "And...you're....you're....." "You're looking a bit mangy," Cheshire said. "Quite naked, too. Fly into a Looking Glass, Fire Bug?" He, of course, had nothing to fear, only the Red Queen could harm him. Alice just hid her face. A naked man!! And THIS was her guilt? Half of her wanted to laugh...the other half didn't know what it wanted.
Alice peeked through her fingers. Poor thing, he looked bewildered and so vulnerable. But she had nothing to offer him. A curtain that had survived the flames caught her eye. She tore it down and draped it on his shoulders. "Don't touch me," Jabberwock snarled. Alice recoiled slightly. "I'm only trying to help you!" she said. "Just settle down."
Jabberwock backed up and glared at her. "Help?! How can you help me with this?! Know any good ways to change the changed?! Give me back my claws, my fire, my body!" He shook with his pent up emotion. "Then, maby we'll talk about your 'help'."
Alice shrunk back. "Stop shouting at me and pehaps I would try to help you!!"
The Cheshire Cat watched the volley in awe. had Alice ever been so mad??
Jabberwock growled. "Tell me, how can you help? You're just a dreamer." He looked off to the side, clearly upset. He missed his old, strong body already. This frail thing would get him nowhere....and what would the Queen think?
Alice brandished her blade. "I won't have anymore of your outbursts!"
The Jabberwock's eyes flashed in fear, but he got into a defensive stance again, forgetting that he was still quite naked and letting the curtain fall to the ground.
"You can not controle me Daydreamer." He growled. "You're just a little girl after all."
He grinned sadistickly. "Yes, a little girl who's afraid of fire and being alone. You poor thing."
