everyone's talking about the controversial 'da vinci code' of dan brown. i've personally read the book and i don't even find it that much convincing to be able to 'twist someone's faith'. on the other hand, i have read this book called "BABYLON MYSTERY RELIGION". i asked my dad where he got it and since when he had it but he took it away saying that it's not a kids' book. too late! -i've read enough to prove that my doubts do have basis. it talks about the harlot found in the book of Revelation in the Bible. it could be found in the beginning chapter(s) so when i first read it, i was sorta "whoa! creepy,,,". then that i realized (from the book) that the catholic church (could) be "the mother of harlots" said in the book of Revelation.
i realized that i used to pray almost ten times as much as to Mary than to the Lord as i used to be a catholic. a little background,,,i come from a catholic family and my mom was adopted by a priest. thats right, a priest! that's why my mom doesn't have that 'open mind' to Christianity (Protestantism, Baptist, and the like...). i came from a catholic school in Ilocos where i studied for 6 years and recently (3 yrs ago) moved to a Christian school here in Cainta. i din't have any knowledge about being a Born-Again Christian until 1st yr high (when me moved to the christian school) except that they call their priests as partors and have very small churches compared to the big cathedrals; they also don't have the holy communion everytime they celebrate their mass; their priests don't even get to dress up like the catholics and they can have a family! imagine serving God without celibacy!
but that was then, now i fully understand why these things are as they are in the Christian (as in NOT catholic) realm. as i said, i realized that i used to pra almost ten times as much to Mary than to the Lord as in the rosary (and we used to pray it every Tuesdays and Thursdays in school!). the vows of celibacy is also a great fraud as some priests and nuns have their own affairs... the Noli Me Tangere is true about it! another thing is that if you look at the "ten commandments" in a catholic church, they have ingeniously removed the commandment saying "thou shall not worship any image of man or any other creation,,," thus, the statues and idols in the catholic churches become permissible. going through the lives of the Popes in Roman Catholic history, we could clearly see how immoral most of them had lived. a lot were murderers, adulteres, money-and-power-hungry scoundrels! try to beat that! they had their own skeletons in their closets that were no sooner exposed while they were busy damning others as "unclean sinners who don't deserve to be in heaven". sorry if you don't see it as it is but just studying history would open your mind to this. i didn't learn that much from world history in school as i'm not that diligent at studying but if you read it once, you'd understand the plain facts; most problems in the world were caused by religion. the popes were behind much bloodshed in history that i couldn't fathom how were able to live their lives considered as "holy" while they order much killing! "no murderer has eternal life in him" that's what i've read (from the Bble). these were popes! how could they miss that part of the HOLY Book that they say they "preach"???
don't even think about saying i'm being absurd but believe me, it's true! so to sum up my forst post about this issue, i'm talking about looking at from a historical point of view (as in the papal biographies??).
PS: if you happen to read this and disliked it, don't condemn me, i just want to say (or write about) what i do believe in... anyway, this is just a journal,,,
