Oh noes! The Christians and their ignorance! So we'll come up with our own religion to go against its teachings!
Anyways, first of all, Satanism appears to be based on reactionary policies, paranoia, and an incredible disdain for the finer traits of human nature. First of all, why try to confuse people by calling yourselves Satanists? Believe it or not, Satanism and all of its facets are so obscure and unimportant in the greater social context that no person pursuing their own dreams and goals will take the time to learn anything about it. Here is a quick lesson on the word "Christianity." To be a Christian, one must worship and follow Christ. If you didn't notice, the words Christianity and Christian are based of off the word Christ, the central facet of that religion. Christian's follow the teachings of Christ. Buddhists follow the teachings of Buddha. So, when you call yourself a SATANist, any person applying logic will immediately assume that the divine entity whose teachings you follow is Satan. Satan is usually assorted with evil, debauchery, and vileness by, well, pretty much everyone. Now, since your "faith" (I'll address that in a second) is a worship of human nature, why not just call yourselves Secularists? All of the stigma is removed, and you don't have to worry about all of the stigma associated with Satan! Then, you can announce what you are in public and not immediately have people worry about you having a blood orgy for the dark lord on their front lawn. Of course you DON'T DO THAT, but that is what is associated with Satan, so people will work that logic muscle and connect the dots. But I've already formulated a theory on why you don't simply call yourselves Secularists or Existentialists: you all are a bunch of attention whores. That's right! You all know that if you simply changed your name to something else, then nobody would give a s**t about you anymore.
With that out of the way, here's some more food of thought: Satanism is not a religion. All it is is a continuation of the realist/existentialist tradition started at the turn of the 20th century. You are so busy believing that humans are nothing more than complicated animals, that there is no God so in turn no afterlife, you have turned back in on your psyche to find something to worship and venerate. So, you have clung onto the Freudian manifestation of the animal instincts innate in the human mind, what ole' Sigmund labelled the Id. You have built a shrine to this mental building block, and given it a new name: Satan. But you have no "real" God. Just the mindset of "if it feels good, do it" and "magic" to add a quality of mystic-ness to it.
So then, here are the building blocks of the Satanist..."faith": Whining, egoistic fools, basic psychology knowledge, a dash of abstract "magic", and a controversial "deity" (whose identity is actually a base component of the perverse part of the human condition) to garner enough attention to feed the voracious appetites of the egos necessary to follow this "religion". What you have is existentialism dressed up in a preacher's clothes and with horns glued lopsidedly to his head, with a train of fools following in procession.
Oh well, the Constitution protects freedom of speech, so carry on. Just keep your demagogues off my lawn, I just watered it.
