.::My Summer Trip to 1000 Islands and Montreal::.

((I live in Canada by the way, eh? xd ))

It all began on Saturday(August 5th, 2006). My parents had woken me up at 4:00 a.m. in the morning. stressed I had probably gotten about 5 hours of sleep that day but it was worth it. I got ready to leave at 5:00 a.m. for our exciting trip. My mom had packed lunch (tuna sandwich, patties, snacks, etc.). Then our friends visited us at 5:00 a.m. to take us there. We had to follow their van so that we wouldn't get lost. It was a long trip afterall.

So we hit the road then. I was with my whole family in our chevrolet malibou. The drive to Brockville(destination: 1000 islands) was going to take about 5 hours. So I talked in the car, took pictures, played yugioh(don't diss the game stare I was bored), ate alot of snacks, made some of pit stops, etc.

Then we finally reached Brockville. whee Once we were there, we booked in our hotel at about 11:00 a.m.(we stayed at the Comfort Inn by the way). So then after that we visited the beach. At first the parking lot looked pretty empty but then by 3:00 p.m. it was pretty packed.

My friends and family unpacked at two tables that were beside us under the tree. When we were done we ate. Boy, was the food good. blaugh After that we talked with everyone around our area. By the way, I'm an eastern indian. biggrin I have to admit that at first I didn't want to come to this trip but luckily my parents forced me. cool

Anyways, there were alot of interesting people that I met. Alot of them were from Karachi, but few were from India crying (like me). My favourite person there would have to be 'Jimmy' from India. He told me that he was a proud grandfather and that he had an good talk with me. He gave me some very powerful and meaningful lessons when he talked to me. He was a very nice person. God bless the good in heart. heart

After that, I walked around with my whole family. Before that I was sort of venturing off on my own. There was a cruise ship on the shining lake. There were also geese too but I didn't mess with those guys. There were all sorts of activities going around that day. There were soccer ('Montreal vs. Quebec'), bingo xp , frisbee, volleyball, etc.

I remember staying there till about 8:00 p.m. It was dark and people were leaving. There were alot of those annoying blood suckers eek (musquitos xp ). I even got a bite on my head, under my dark black hair. emo Anyways, we were packing up and we had to head of to our hotel.

Once we went to our hotel I was pretty much sore from all the walking I did that day.I had a quick shower and then I got my parents to massage my legs for me. lol It felt relaxing lol. Then out of no where I heard the knocking on the door when my sis was showering. It was our friends. My first reaction was 'oh man let me rest in peace man' gonk But as the friendly talk progressed I was actually liking it. My sis came out of the shower and was surprised to see our friends in our hotel. xd

It was probably 10:30 before they left. We had said the rosary before then and we ate our dinner with our friends. I then began to read a book that my sis showed me that would improve my life. I ended up reading it till midnight which I think pissed my parents off. sweatdrop Then I fell asleep like a log...except for that time I thought someone broke in to our hotel at the night but it was actually my mom who had left the lights on in the bathroom when she was using it at night. evil

My parents then woke me up at 7:00 a.m. the next day(Sunday). scream I was so tired. We ate our free breakfast at the hotel and then went to a nearby church for worship because we are devoted catholics. 3nodding After that, we packed up our stuff in the car and then left to head off to Montreal. It was 10:00 a.m. in the morning. Ofcourse, we followed our friends' van there.

The Trip to Montreal was brutal. We were kind of lost for a while. My friends and my family almost had an accident on the road. mad What happened was that the husband of my family's friends was really tired and was dosing of(actually it kind of happened yesterday at the picnic in Brockville). Anyways, they had crossed a red light at an extremely busy intersection. The cars almost hit them but they were blessed that God saved them(yes, I am a devoted Catholic as well...at least I try to be). We almost crossed the red light though we stopped just soon before the cars almost hit us. I mean they almost did. surprised

Every sign in Quebec was in French. eek So a stop sign would read 'arrete'. It was hard finding directions in Montreal because of the many french speaking folks that live there. neutral

After a few tries we had finally reached St. Joseph's monastry. The parking lot was huge. There were alot of stairs because the monastary is on top of a hill. As I was climbing the stairs I saw people praying on each step and I felt repected towards them. There was also an old lady begging for money, unfortunately no one looked like they were donating to here. I felt bad for the old lady but I didn't have any money on me. sad

When I was inside, the whole structure looked well mantained. At first we saw the church mass area. It was huge inside of that place. It really felt like an extremely holy place in there. I got to see the huge organ music pieces at the back of the church as well. The music was quite delightful as many people were attracted and awed by it.

Next, we went to a place where you make a small donation and you light a candle in which there are thousands of candles on the wall. I admit it felt really warm in there. burning_eyes I didn't get to light a candle but the experince touched my heart. razz I saw many crutches on the wall which I can only say had to have been miracles of healing the crippled.

Inside the candles place was a room with a Saint's body. I forget his last name but his first name is Andre. There were people touching and praying near his coffin and there were candles everywhere. idea

I then went to the art museum located in the monatary. There were holy art by probably every country in the world. It felt like the people who had done the art peices had poured a little of their heart and soul into their creations. They were trully beautiful and awe inspiring. 4laugh My favourite art piece would have to be a golden cross with an spike-like aura coming from the cross itself.

After that we climbed some stairs to see the top of the monatory and we could see the top of the city. pirate We took alot of pictures with our friends. Afterward, we explored some more of the place and even where St. Andre used to live. It was a very little room though but it felt very holy indeed. The room had been remade(you could tell because the paint looked newly done and our friends told us the room had been remade. rofl

After that we ate at an arabian restaurant. We ate some 'swarma sandwiches' which are very very delicious. smile Once we ate, we decided to hit the road and head off back home. The time was 5:00p.m. It was a 7 hour drive home and it was quite dark. I had developed a sore throat but at least the experience made up for it. mrgreen

We made several pit stops on our way home and the stars and the night sky really looked good on that day. There was even a full moon which brightened up the sky. We finally reached home but at the last part of the highway, we lost our friends even though we knew the way home. cry We wondered if they were home and alright neutral It was kind of embarrasing to lose them though because we thought this other van was there's so we followed it lol. redface

When I reached home it sure felt good to me although I was kind of worrying about our friends. confused My mom told my sis who told me that they were alright which was good to know.I immediately fed my starving fish pets (what?!..I take really good care of them ninja ) and then I went on Gaiaonline . After that I ate some food and went to sleep.

I slept for about 9 hours (recovered my lost sleep dramallama ) and then wrote this journal entry. xd

If I could summarize my experience of this trip in one word I would just say it was 'phenominal!'(sp?)

wahmbulance ...Did I mention, that I love comments. wink
