gaia_duck I bought pokemon crystal with interest in the breeding system. I learned how certain mechanics regarding shinies had been removed post crystal; these mechanics allowing you to breed shiniers at a higher rate when cross breeding a shiny within its egg group. There is not much information out there but I have been trying to thoroughly read every article and watch every video I can to understand. The odd egg is exclusive to Pokemon Crystal and has a higher chance of hatching a shiny; my goal was to get the shiny pichu which has a one percent chance of hatching.
gaia_duck I reset the game several times to get the trainer ID that I wanted, my first attempt (I had to restart my save file later) resulted in a palindromic number that I forget now. I ended up playing through, collecting the odd egg, and then saving afterwards and finding out that I need to reset before I get the egg. Once you get the egg the pokemon is decided at that point, meaning you can't reset for it after you have saved.
gaia_duck My second attempt resulted in a trainer ID of 29900. I really liked this one, much more than my previous save file. I played through and after resetting the game so many times over the course of weeks, I did finally hatch the shiny pichu exclaim . However, it was a girl and I did want a boy. I made the best of it and named her Sakura after the Naruto character lol. I caught an abra shortly after and named it Sasuke. I am going to try to train them up really strong so that I can utilize only them and not have to rely on my starter (totodile).
gaia_duck Going forward I will continue to train and catch pokemon for my Pokédex, not leaving goldenrod city until my Pokédex is complete for the routes prior. I am trying to save up enough money to buy supplements at the department store so I can improve the stats of Sakura and Sasuke.
