Satan Wasn't Such a bad Guy Afterall?
Hey... let's switch this around very quickly here...

Let's say... that Satan was telling Eve to eat of the tree of wisdom in good faith, no ill will about it, and just trying to enlighten the human beings that God was keeping sheltered from all things bad.

It can then be assumed that God is against human intelligence, can't it?

It can then be said also that the Devil is its advocate. (pun intended)

So Satan might not have been such a bad guy, right?

God put up a hissy fit, and kicked Satan out of heaven.

This is like Greek mythology. Prometheus gives humans fire. Zeus has him nailed to a rock in Mount Caucasus for all time to be pecked at, having his entrails devoured by devlish birds, and, being immortal, suffering this punishment for all eternity.

Hm... I didn't think I could make this much sense.

But Prometheus is considered one of man's closest companions in myth, saving mankind time and again, and teaching then of fire, while in Satan's case, he opens our minds and eyes to the world around us, and he is forever cursed with a negative connotation.

I mean, it isn't all his fault, after all. If Adam had just said "Yes, I ate of the tree" instead of saying "This woman you put here to live with me gave me the apple" and thereby BLAMING God, and then Eve not having blamed the snake, or Satan, ALSO one of God's creations, and therefore blaming God again, perhaps they would never have had to leave the garden of Eden.

Send your hate mail. I am so ready for it...

((This particular idea came across my mind in one of the most ridiculous defenses of Christianity I'd ever seen... I had been toying with the idea, and somewhere in the archives of my little brain's memory, I recalled a comprable situation in two entirely different religions. *Shrugs* It made sense to me. If this made you rethink things, then I am happy. 3nodding ))

Actually, I think it makes perfect sense, especially when you read some of the apocryphia(Scraps of Biblical myth and lore that are not included in the Bible itself.); it's a long story short, but the head-angel in modern mythology(No offense meant to anyone, it's simply my way of looking at things), Michael, was actually a common angel, without a name or purpouse until he caught Lucifer talking with several other angels about enlightening the humans to make them more like God.

But, God would have none of this; a creator wants creatures cast in it's image, but not one's that can think and act like it, especially a jealous, paranoid creator. Michael spirited away to God, told him, and they ousted Lucifer, putting Michael in his place.

Of course, this could all be untrue as well, yet...
