Soft crystal blue eyes opened. "Mom, i'm awake!" she called out. Red hair fell gently on her strong shoulders when she sat up, slowly. She glanced around her small room.
"Good morning" A woman said, walking into the room. "It's seventeen years since the day of your birth." She said gently.
"I know, mom." She red haired girl said happily. "How would I ever forget this day?" She asked, tilting ehr head slightly. A cute face. Like one of a baby born seventeen years ago. It was Selene.
The woman bit her lower lip. Her gray, curly, soft hair swayed as she shifted her weight slightly. Selene's real mother was burned at a cross, the same day Selene was born. "Can I please tell you something, dear?"
"Sure, anything mom." Selene said, just sitting there, a bright smile set upon her porceline face.
How was she going to tell her, her mother died, and that the woman Selene thought was her mother, really wasn't? She let out a sigh, "I'm not your real mother. She was burned at a cross the day of your birth, since she was accused of being a witch."
This womans name was 'Mom' to Selene, but that had shattered. her real name though, was, Anathrose, but many called her Rose.
Selene looked like she was in shock. "But..how?" She asked slowly but softly. "Have I really been living a lie that thee shun upon me?" Selene asked herself softly, laying back on the bed. She gave a side glance at Rose, seeing the pain set in erh eyes.
Rose's head hung down in sadness. "Your real mother told me that if anything happened to her, that i'd take you in, and raise you as my own daughter. But she wantd me to give thee this if she ever passed away." Rose muttered quickly, pulling a necklace from her pocket. It showed a cresent moon, with a Pagan Star hanging in the middle of it.
Selene sat up again. Amazement moved over her glazed-over blue eyes. She was shocked due to the fact she was living a lie all of these years, but that necklace was almost hypnotic.
Rose slowly handed the necklace to Selene. The cresent moon gave off a soft sky blue tinted color, as she small star gave off a small red-ish color. The silver chain dangled from her hand, holding it in front of Selene, waiting for her to take it.
Slinder fingers moved toward the necklace, soon holding it. Selene looked at what now in her hands. This was her mothers necklace. She gave a soft smile. She necklace was warm, like her mothers smile always used to be.
"When your mother was burned, I took this from her ashes, as she wanted me to.." Rose explaned slowly.
Somehow, 'Took from ashes' didn't sound as cool as most might think. "Uh..thanks." Selene said, giving Rose a soft and knowing smile.
The two females shared a small bond as they both looked at each other. Eye to eye. Knowing, careing, and love passed between the two woman, as if they were one. Haveing all of this happening, made a tear roll down Selene's cheek.
Rose stepped forward, sitting on the edge of the bed, wipping the tear away. "Shhh...don't cry, dear." She said softly. Selene hugged Rose, dropping the necklace.
Rose reached for the necklace, letting Selene hug her. She slowly began pushing Selene away a little bit, as she put on the necklace for Selene. "You look so much like your mother when you wear that..but your red hair came from your father..." Rose said softly.
Selene closed her eyes, wondering what her parents had looked like. She'd never know. Not now, and maybe not ever. She knew her mother was most likely a witch, but what was her father? human? Would that mean Selene was half witch?
Rose stood, and smiled. She took Selene's hand, pulling her to her feet. "Come on...let's go see the world for what is really is." Rose murrmured quietly.
Selene's father, died maybe two months before Selene was born. He died, trying to fight off solders trying to fight their ways into the village, for collecting food, since they were saviges. He died trying to protect his pregnant wife. His love. His whole life. His reason to live.
Selene felt better then before. So much saddness went into her, that it made her mind start to feel better. It gave her the thought that nothing else bad could happen right? A sigh escaped her lips, as she pondered at the question.
