*Shakes his head, tossing blond strands about as if he were an animal trying to get something uncomfortable off his head.* It would never work L! I don't understand Near and he doesn't understand me. *Stares at his idol intently.* How can you team up with someone who doesn't understand you? There are just too many opportunities for miscommunication to happen. Such on an important case like the Kira case could mean death for both of us or one of us. I don't intend to die! I've already proven myself by getting the DeathNote, I don't want Near benifiting off of my hard work. If he did.. wouldn't that just be using me as a means to an end? *Cants head, giving something of a calm yet disturbed look to L.* If I don't prove myself against him... I'll just be in his shadow. Like.. some people were in your shadow.

-Wouldn't betray his idol's admiration. Not even for the love of his life: Chocolate- I'm sorry L, but I'd rather not say. I'm sure you've done somethings in your life, some extreme things in order to catch the criminal and solve the case. In this fashion so have I, but it's not anything I'd like to admit to.

As for Near... I realize he's level headed. *Glares towards the ground.* He's rational and can think clearly.. but I don't need him. I can work just fine on my own, and Near and I will never get along. It's too difficult, we've always been rivals. That's all we'll ever be.. rivals for your spot, L. Besides, Near doesn't work with anyone, he uses them, like some tools to solve a puzzle, or equipment to solve a problem. He doesn't ...feel.. or care about who he's working with. L can be cool like that too, but there is feeling in L's eyes. Near has none. I wont let myself become another tool for him, I wont be Near's next little toy.. and that's all people are to Near. That cool level-headedness you so admire is just his arrogance and lofty attitude. He thinks he's better then everyone, and I wouldn't be surprised if he really feels he's better then you.

... -A little dissapointed that his idol would even entertain the thought that he'd use the DeathNote on his rival.- .. You taught me, L, that killing an opponent right out isn't an honorable win. It's something a criminal and a loser would do. You have to catch your opponent fairly in a battle of wits so that the feeling of victory is justified. I would NEVER use the DeathNote on Near, or even consider it. That would just make me a loser who couldn't surpass him mentally so just offed him like any common scum could. -Though I'm sure Near on the other hand would use me to test out the DeathNote's killing power, tch- I'm beating Near fairly, so that he realizes I'm really superior to him, since I already have the DeathNote, I've already one-up'd him.

As for my face... it's the price for having held something as valuable as the DeathNote... and partially my own doing.
