I have a ton of tarantulas, but a good majority of them are still spiderlings. I'm getting two more soon, and (hopefully) even more around christmas time. I actually just got a new grammostola rosea/chilean rose hair tarantula today. I see them at petco at times, usually being poorly and improperly cared for, so I just HAVE to buy them when i see them because they're so cute and don't deserve to live like that.



That's quite surprising that yours was mean, they're normally some of the most docile species around. My new one isn't fully grown yet I don't think, about 4 inches, but is extremely docile, doesn't even flick urticating bristles or show any defensive signs at all. The only drawback is that she's really skittish, so I have to be careful when holding, it's easy for them to just run off the side of your hand since they're virtually blind and really clumsy. I don't want to risk them being hurt or killed accidentally, so when I hold mine I always do it while sitting on the ground with carpeting and/or a mattress or something in case they fall



They're awesome though, and some species live 30-40 years. Some of the "perfect" pets in my opinion not only because of their long life spans, but also because they're extremely easy and inexpensive to keep healthy.
