Haha, I'm not really sure what the standards for CU are. I do know it's supposed to be a little harder for out-of-state students to get in, but you shouldn't have a problem, I wouldn't think.
And I completely understand, it's definitely an interesting experience.

I know, kinda weird, yet awesome XD
And I love it to bits. The campus is gorgeous, and I love almost all the classes I've taken. The Academic Advisors are really useful when it comes to helping you choose your schedules, provided you actually make an appointment (it's almost impossible to get ahold of them during their walk-in hours close to registration for classes).
It's definitely a college town, but it's pretty eco-friendly. Students can ride any bus in the city for free, which is awesome, and a lot of the students bike or walk to their classes.
