it's not your fault, it's my for fault for interpreting things when I really don't know the story xD
that's actually a trait I don't like >_> gotta make sure that doesn't happen again

lol no, he just cared too much about what others think, he was bullied, mocked, laughed at and hated his job (/life as well I think)
I think he regretted shooting the elephant, since he tried to end his suffering and only shot it so that the natives don't laugh at him

I understand now, I had the wrong impression of the book.

The worst part about the short story I just read is: it is an autobiogrophy. Poor man. So he felt like killing some Buddhist priests, huh? xD

I guess so xD most horror stories are far from realistic

he killed the elephant and it's somehow really sad o.o the poor elephant omg D: (it's death was describes pretty well)
now for the conclusion (I hope there's at least character evolvement)

for the last 3 pages now he was debating on whether to shoot the elephant or not (he doesn't want to, but the Indian natives expect him to and he doesn't want to be a laughing stock... humans stare )
at least the story is realistic xD

reminds me of the Simpsons halloween special in which homer kills death and becomes the grim reaper (it's probably a parody of the one you're reading, since pretty much all Simpsons halloween specials are)
how's that book called?

actually that guy I mentioned is British and he's searching for an elephant and he just found it.. guess he'll shoot it? *reads on*

I'm reading a short story right now, it's called Shooting an Elephant and it's about some guy in India who hates Imperialism and the British empire, because he was sent to India and everyone hates and mocks him there, hence "[his] greatest joy in the world would be to drive a bayonet into a Buddhist priest's guts." xD that much for quotes
