I'm commenting in response to the 'Painting' conversation because the thread was moved to the Writing Arena Discussion and that probably has a daily traffic of 1 user or something. So.

First off, it would be badass if we were all mandated to wear togas and laurels upon entry into the forum. razz

And I'm more of an Atticus guy, myself. I often seriously consider naming one of my sons Atticus. -shrug-

Yeah, I understand about the publisher thing so no worries. Just make sure that you -do- get it published so that I can read the rest of it. XP
Tips for improving.. that's difficult because I didn't really see anything that needed improving. =/ One thing though, which is probably just me, is that I found the word 'flashback-worthy' stood out oddly amongst everything else. Maybe because it has a very modern, almost slang quality to it that didn't really come through that much in the rest of what you wrote. Also in the first paragraph 'sneaking whiskey from my father's bottles' or something like that, didn't seem to make much sense, but I presume that bit is going to be more fully explained later on. Hope that's helpful and not just strange ramblings..
