I think Mononoke is the most adult of all Miyazaki films, which is probably part of the appeal.

I've only seen part of "Castle in the Sky", but it reminded me of "Kiki's Delivery Service" ... geared for younger children. I loved "Princess Mononoke", but "Spirited Away" is still my favorite.
