Quite a lot, actually. It all depends on your tastes and preferences.
You can hang around Friends Chat, where you can actually make your own thread. You can pretty much talk to people here without the hate from Chatterbox and The GD. Those two places I've mentioned are cesspool of trolls.
If you're good with arts (drawing avatar, or just about anything), you can offer your services here in Art Shops. Many pay a lot for good arts.
If you're good at making some kind of graphic (like the image on top of this post - the art is actually my avatar art), you can make a shop here. Be warned, though, you need to be here on Gaia for 3 days before you can get a Trading Pass.
Oh and there's Roleplaying and games here, too.
