Even dead ones hurt!? D; That's terrifying. I'm glad that everything turned out alright, though, except for those lingering psychological effects.

Being in the ocean does sound picturesquely poignant, from the way you describe it. I wouldn't mind just being on the beach.

I haven't been to the beach since I was eight. It was completely crowded and much too hot, and I stood as far away from the ocean as I could without getting off the sandy bits. I made good friends with the guy (who looked like my uncle) manning the hot dog stand. Not good enough to get a free hot dog, though. xD

Jellyfish aren't bad as a side dish, but encountering them in the sea is rather frightening. A friend of mine says she accidentally swallowed a really tiny one once. Eww ...

I don't know how people can stand swimming out so far into the ocean. The sense of not having anything around you but water is frightening. D;
