Here's a Funny Story for ya, Olivia!

I went on Flickr today and found there were some new comments for your pictures (you know, with ze middle finger!)

and their's this group called "Girls Flipping the Bird" Yeah, I found it weird as well. Anyway,

he asked me if he could use those photos and I accepted then and wow! It was weird/hilarious.

Interesting...everyone has wooden bassoons, and nice ones at that. Our school is very arts savy, so that's not a big deal. We invest in school bassoons, oboes, etc. But yeah, I hate marching. I also hate the getting up at six am tomorrow. So I just have to sit and listen to Shiny Toy Guns, enjoying the last day of summer. God, I'm going to miss getting up at noon and no homework. AHAHAHAHAHAHH!!!! Gack.

Stupid, just plain stupid. I hate it when they make people switch after years of being the same thing. They had this guy on tenor sax freshamn year and they are making him play bassoon because we only have 3 (not including him), the rest graduated last year. So, basically, we are being punished because the middle school band director didn't take the time to round up the complex players. It just makes me want to scream! And this poor kid had no idea what he is doing because he plays sax in marching band. They also gave him our worst, nasty old plastic bassoon that sounds like crap. He's not even taking lessons. And, he doesn't want help from any of the other bassoonists. At least I'm not stuck in his band next year, which is not nice of me to say, but it's true. User Image

How stupid. That's how they treated me when I was a freshman. Even though I was better than they were they just got all witchy and complained. I was so angry when they got their way and I had a senior as first in front of me. I wanted to kill her because she sucked. People just can't take it when those who are younger are better. I mean if a freshman came in and kicked my but at bassoon I'd be all "Hey, high five!" Not you suck. But my wrist is better, so all is well. User Image

But lessons are amazing!!! If only you could see my amazing sunburn. Except for being stiff and groggy, I'm actually recovering from this long week of band camp. I have to see the doctor about my wrist, I messed it up doing a flag toss. I'm just clumsy. First chair is awesome! You get all the solos. Good for you! User Image

That always makes things hard when people are being stupid. We had all these senior bassoons last year, and I was first chair as a sophmore. How sad is that? None of them could even play to save their lives. Our oboes are amazing. We used to have an english horn, but she graduated. I am not looking forward to the inferno heat outside tomorrow. We practice on pavement, reflects the heat right up at you. At least it's only a week. User Image

Sounds like oodles of fun. We have band camp starting this coming week before school starts. I'm not excited. It just means I am going to get really sunburned very quickly.

I see. I never march in time anyways, I tend to trip all over myself. I decided that spinning a nice, pretty flag would be less hazardous for me, not for those around me. I'm just looking forward to concert season. I love my bassoon. Do you have any competitions? Like CODA and Allstate?

You mean they don't let you join pit or anything? That bites. Though sometimes I wish at my school that being in marching band was a choice. All well, you can't win every battle you fight. School is not my favorite thing anyways, so I guess band is an escape of its own.

Yeah, fox are okay. I had to play on a plastic one, and IT was a piece of crap. One year? Awesome. Do you take private lessons? I found that they really help to achieve a great tone. Also, fingerings are *&%#ing insane!! I mean, how many are there for each note? Anyways, what will you do marching season?
