On Thursday, February 26th, the Taurus XL, a NASA satellite, took an unexpected crash into the Pacific Ocean, not too far off from Antarctica. It had blasted off just minutes before 2 a.m. at California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base and had crashed not too long after. The problem that had mainly occurred was that a cover protecting the satellite failed to separate from the rocket, thus making it too heavy.
The Taurus XL held and Orbiting Carbon Observatory that was to be apart of NASA’s first attempt to build a satellite to monitor carbon dioxide on a global scale. Obviously, it had failed. The satellite had cost us $280 million and had taken nine years to build. It was a mission meant to last for two years, but had almost gone down in a matter of minutes instead.
The satellite weighed a good 986-pounds and was supposed to be placed into a polar orbit about 400 miles high to track the carbon dioxide emissions. The makers of the Taurus XL was Orbital Science Corp.
An interesting fact I had found was that Japan had sent up a successful satellite much like ours on Friday, January 23rd.

Yessshhh, someone who agrees. My mom likes the heavy metal that I listen to, but she doesn't care for things like Panic! at the Disco(hey I'm listening to that right now....)
They don't seem to care for the loud volume lolz.
