Insidious Sidus

Sidus let her eyes droop shut as she lay there, huddled absurdly close to him. That said, she made sure to bring her arms up to fasten herself tight against him in the process to ensure nothing would end up going awry. In the back of her mind she knew, she knew that he would have a difficult time leaving here. She didn't blame him, departures were always the worst part of being nomad. At feeling his fingers trace along her blank visage, her dark eyes opened once more to gaze over at him with an absolute attention. 'Here it comes, he's going to leave and we will forever part ways,' seemed to be the only thoughts looping around in her mind. Instead she got the exact opposite. In that very instant she could feel her eyes absently widening as she increased her grip dramatically around him. "You will, follow?" His words simply astounded her. Why would he possible want to leave such a perfect safe haven for an unstable life above the stars? After a moment or two of pondering she lay her thoughts aside, figuring it would be an unsolvable mystery. "No, there will be no others, we are a dying breed. In all my life since the time I left the birthing tribe, I have yet to run into another other than yourself, and I have been around for quite some time." There was a slight sorrow in her voice, but that was to be expected. "Still, it is always good to be wary in different environments, I suppose."

Insidious Sidus

Sidus grew scornful at the sensation of him so easily slipping away. Her dark eyes fluttered open to lazily scan the surrounding area with dull sense of intrigue. Whether he knew it or not, she understood his inner turmoil; the burdens that were carried by every last one of their kind. It was not an task, to pick which planets get to be spared and which ones have to be consumed. Still she felt inclined to rid this planet. It was too precious to give up by this point. Right alongside him she sat, her cold hands shifting to hug around her own stomach. "It is not a fair job, nor are the insurmountable consequences that come with destroying a planet. One less species, one less generation line." A shady glance, a sigh. His mannerisms were a dead giveaway to his current state of self-loathing. Sidus watched in silence as he examined his naked hand, perhaps assessing his own capabilities and aspirations. "Then don't. Stay here, protect these people from our kind. But I cannot stay here without the energy I need." With her hands lightly clenching onto her stomach, she curled up where she sat and closed her eyes. "I have eggs to lay, and the time is drawing near. It is not nearly cold enough here for them to develop and hatch with time, they would never hatch. If you won't help me get what I need, I will find it myself. I have no intentions in getting in a fight with the great Khal, I swear it on my very life. Still, do not expect me to lie down and die." With her claim stated, she gradually uncurled and went about shifting to sit atop Atlas' abdomen. Lightweight as she was, he'd hardly be able to tell she was there. Just as he had earlier displayed, there was a frank concern clearly drawn out upon her small night-sky face. "We are dying breed as is, great Khal. If I am unable to leave this place then it will not just be one less, we will be getting closer to extinction."

Insidious Sidus

How lovely. Sidus drank in his body heat as she remained huddled to him, very much enjoying herself. "Unless there are some larger energy reserves somewhere else on this planet, there is no second option." There was a slight remorse in her voice; things always were more difficult when it came to devouring stars that harbored and balanced other life forms such as this. However, feeling his arms wrap around her, Sidus grew remarkably lax. In fact, what could only be described as a low, quiet purring would be heard as she gave a final shudder before shutting her eyes. It was perfect. Deities always did make for the best pillows after all. "You are Khal Atlas, the one gifted with gravity manipulation. Millenniums ago when I was a mere hatching, I heard the olden stories of a being who would return to our people and cultivate a new tribe of every last being of our race. Once together, the great khal would forcibly bring together ever star, planet, and celestial body in the universe to condense a large enough galaxy where the universe itself would collapse and start anew. But because we would be the sole survivors because we would be protected by the khal, we would be the sole inhabitants of this new realm; even with a home planet once more in place of the old. You see? You must bring descruction in order to create life anew for our kind."

Insidious Sidus

The more he seemed to shy away the more Sidus found herself intrigued by his actions. Still, she continued to consistently flock close to him. However, he seemed to take some odd offense to his, no, their nature. It could not be helped that they were the virtual scavengers of the universe, travelling around and swallowing up any planets or stars in their path. Sidus gave a brief slump of her shoulders before she faced upward to stare up at the tauntingly close sun above. The more time she spent here the more she seemed to gain an understanding as to how reliant this little planet truly was on that sun. But at this rate it was either them or her. "Fragile people," she quietly murmured to herself before turning back to Atlas. "Yes, as bad as it seems, it is what we do. It cannot be helped. It is our nature. It is how we grow stronger, age. This would not be the first time, that I have had to eradicate a population; it gets easier with time. It is part of the three step process after all." Sidus silently blinked and huddled closer, her delicate hands tracing gingerly along his face as she proceeded to simply recline against him. "There is no way around, what we do."

Insidious Sidus

Sidus followed his gaze up to the sky, her stomach growing uneasy at the sight of that star lingering above; taunting her. It was rather small compared to others she had absorbed, but it would have to do. Once she managed to get enough energy to repair her wings, that was to be her first meal. Such feeble daydreams were soon disrupted as he inquired more about their kind. She agreed with a simple not, her hands moving to cup the sides of his face; her fingers running along his jawline and cheeks. "Well, we are a nomadic people. In the Old Times we used to have a planet to call home, it was said that it was so large the entire nebular was encompassed in it. But, the homeland was struck--by something--and was destroyed. The few tribes that managed to survive spread out and flourished with time." She gave a playful tug on his nose before resting her hands across her lap and continuing. "Everyone looks the same: blue eyes, flat body, celestial skin; the males exactly double the height of females. But you, you're different. Your head, it is not the same. Your eyes are not the correct color, but I am to suppose that it is because you are of divine descent. Nonetheless you are still a Dothraki; just with some, subtle differences." Sidus heaved a shallow sigh and tumbled back onto her side so that she was sprawling in the grass. She utterly loved the feeling of the nature here. Her fragile hands slowly ran along blades of grass and she watched as they bend and warped around under her weight. Her odd, smoke-like hair freely wafted around in the grass, leaving dull images of stars and moons to float around midst all the grass before fading. "The Dothraki are a proud people. In order to survive, we must roam around and absorb stars--" she raised her arm to point at the sky, soon fixing her reach to point at the sun. "--And break down the occasional planet if needed. The mass amounts of energy is used to support our people, which we can channel into later energy bursts, such as what you saw earlier. Is that all, Khal Atlas?" Sidus knew he would probably object to being referenced as khal, the term used for sole Dothrakian rulers. "Is Khal Atlas happy with all the new found information?"

Insidious Sidus

"You--" Sidus began, glancing over at the ringmaster to expect him to join in this conversation as well. "--Are the deity depicted in Dothraki oracles--Sol Solis. 'The one who moves but never consumes.' Which is why I praised you earlier, but, you rejected my prayers. Were you unhappy with my display?" Rolling her head to one side, she gazed over at him in pure curiosity. To further prove her point, she carefully lay her open palms above her lap in silence. Her eyes shut as a tight, glowing orb suddenly formed. The orb gradually expanded enough to be the size of a baseball, developing in a miniature star in the palm of her hands. The heat would be horrible unbearable to the ringmaster, but for Sidus and Atlas, it was no more than a soft warmth. Lifting it to meet his gaze, she slowly began to reopen her eyes. "The Dothraki are an ancient race, established at the beginning of time. There is no home planet, no mass concentration. We are nomads, travelling from galaxy to galaxy to devour planetary systems. Mainly stars though. You see--" Sidus lowered the star to have it brush against his face, no more than a dull warm feeling filling the point of impact. It was seemingly harmless to him. She did the same, running the star along her forearm. "--They have more energy than anything else around. And, we need mass amounts of that energy to survive. But, this place. It's so strange." The star was then placed into her closed palm as she proceeded to press it against the ground, causing the ground below to seemingly rapidly melt and deteriorate until she withdrew the energy and the star disappeared. "There is life here. But, I was not expecting to find the mighty Sol Solis here. Why you came here, I do not know. You might have veered off course, it is impossible to know. You are so different from the rest of the Dothraki, but, the same still. You lack wings, have strange fibers atop your head, and different eyes; not to mention you lack these." she pointed out, addressing the thin openings on the sides of her neck. "But you are a deity none the less."
