I had the same thing happen to me. I'll be honest with you, I had someone else I liked when I was with James. His name was Jonathan and he lived in Spokane. I wanted them both and I hid it from them that I liked both until one day I just flat out told them. James said he was ok with it (you know how nice he is about things) but Jon was as mad as heck. He told me it was him or James and I asked for some time to think about it and before I left for my vacation on Christmas to North Carolina (where Im orginally born) he fought iwth me and left me. I was so upset about it but I was so freakin lucky that James was still speaking to me because I thought he hated me after I told him *looks out from corner slowly then hides again*
