We've used a fake tree for as long as I remember.
It's still pretty, though, when decorated, so I'm not complaining.
We even have a train going around the bottom. :3

Rightstuf has the singles for $8 each. That runs into the whole problem of having to order it online, though.

Also, good news: I found End of Evangelion at a secondhand store. Bad news: I have to wait until Christmas to get it. D:

If you find free, legal streams of Kino, tell me. I feel bad recommending it to real life friends because I don't have all of the DVDs.

I said I'd get back to you on this, so...


The only other really good mindscrew series I can think of is Revolutionary Girl Utena. The series and movie both get really weird at times, although the movie is weirder.

As for 'not necessarily mindscrews, but still really good', Baccano! is a new favorite of mine. The first couple of episodes are pretty confusing, and it takes a very unconventional approach to telling a story, but it's fantastic despite that. ANN has it available dubbed and subbed (the dub's better IMO), so you don't even have to torrent it. Also on that list are Kino's Journey and Simoun. Other than Simoun having a terrible first episode and taking a while to get going, I'm not going to say anything else about them because it'll just turn into me fangirling. XD I can't supply links for those two, unfortunately; there is a site with Kino episodes available, but you have to pay a subscription fee to watch it in the first place.

I also feel obligated to recommend Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit and Monster even though I haven't finished them. Moribito is worth watching simply because Balsa is an adult woman who acts like an adult woman, and that doesn't happen nearly enough in anime. Monster is basically my manga equivalent to Ergo Proxy; what I've read is fantastic and I need to finish it, but I haven't finished buying it yet for reasons I can't figure out. Maybe I'll just get both for/after Christmas and solve that problem. XD


I feel like I should add some recommendations of moeblob anime to balance this list out, but honestly, you could probably get a better list of those from Hash. So yeah, bug him for those.
Sorry about the wall of text. I'll try to avoid that in the future. ^^;;
