This is true, which, is a good thing. Another method is to sell what's popular by collecting RIGs and using up the sponsors. The best way is to just turn over items if you can get your hands on one and then turn over items you can afford to buy and bulk and mark up. It's hard to be a new Gaian in this market. New Gaian's are given a lot of gold when they start though to compensate but it does very little to do anything.

Pro Tip:
From one Gaian to another I'll let you in on a good way to bank on the market.
Good and easy way to buy expensive merch is to use the daily videos to earn a little G$ (Gaia Cash). If you can you can get an item that's worth 50,000,000 in gold with 1G$ If the vender is selling the item with G$ enabled. When it is on the market for both it's an easy way to buy items while holding onto your gold.
