Well that is true. But even if you graduated now, the chances of you finding a job are still unlikely. The economy is improving slightly, but these things tend to move in 5-10 years cycles. When things go down, they eventually go up again and vice-versa.

Yeah, its the same way with many other mediums as well. They equate an increase of the main characters abilities to needed more powerful antagonists. In novels, that's why I lost interest in the Wheel of Time series. It became so much about how powerful all the characters were that i simply lost interest when they tried to equate that with deep emotional conflicts.

Another manga series that actually did this well was rurouni kenshin, a series that managed to keep a feeling of things mattering until the very end. Eyeshield 21 had a problem with this, but they were also able to explain it away in various ways that it didn't seem like these things were an issue. Even the extremely powerful characters had character backstory and development as the series progressed. They were powerful and challenging, but you also understood why they were that way and felt that both sides had a stake in the outcome. It wasn't an issue of saving the world vs. destroying in (e.g. Pein or Madara vs. Naruto or Aizen vs. Ichigo), it was an issue of two groups going up against one another that had values and dreams of what they wanted to accomplish. The only way to do so was to get past those in their way, and that brings dramatic tension.

Again, DBZ is a very amusing read when you don't take it very seriously. It knows what it is and what it does well. It's over the top and sometimes rather goofy, but that's part of the fun. Even so, it knows how to be serious, and when it goes get serious you don't think it's so out of place the way it's felt in Naruto or Bleach near the end.

It's not that it's hard to get a d20 game working, it's making it work. I've had a number of ideas, but the issue is that not everyone knows how to play with the d20, and so it's a lot of work writing up all the stuff that is needed. Futhermore, if I was going to transition into something else (like a pokemon d20 or something) it would require more work on that end to make sure things were working out.

I'm sorry to hear that >.> I know that schools are getting more expensive. When I'm not at school I'm working and stuff... so it makes everything stressful. To compound matters its not like if you graduated now that you'd be able to find a job really easily anyway.

I have had a lot of problems with manga these past few years. I've found that as a person, I just don't connect with a lot of the characters. I have a real issue with the trend of bad storytelling and character traits, where writers seem to go the "dragonball Z" route. Or basically, when their main character has progressed to a certain point, they prefer to just throw larger and larger challenges at them. With Naruto, he went from an underdog who was useless, and therefore appealing, to a messiah-like character who is suddenly one of the most powerful people on that earth. There is no point to watching or reading, because the powers outgrow the genre that they are placed in. This has happened in just about every popular Shonen series as of late. Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Air Gear... The issue is that they try to raise tension by upping the stakes, instead of increasing the dramatic tension of personal struggles. They try to do what DBZ did, only also trying to throw in deep characters. The latter is usually the starting point, and the more they up the stakes, the less attention is paid to that part.

DBZ knew what it was, and didn't take itself seriously. It wasn't trying to be some story about under-dogs and figuring our who you were or anything. There were no political or economic problems. Hell, the universe is relatively unexplained, with the fact that people can fly and shoot energy balls just waved away as "Ki." It wanted to be a series about explosions and awesome fights. And it was. And it worked. You can't just take another series where you try to explain everything and try to make it plausible and have deep character issues and shove it in.

Hell, look at the original Naruto vs. Shippuden. Night and Day difference between how the stories are structured, written, and portrayed. Same thing with early bleach and current bleach.

Anyway, ranting aside...

I have hoped to start a guild here and there, but unfortunately I run into the issue of making it work. I would really like to get something with the D20 going... but I stink at keeping things going... >>

School has been killing me. And the main problem is once it starts, I don't feel the need to continue to come back, when It'll just distract me...

Honestly... I'm not really feeling the need to return to WoTN. I really haven't been into Naruto for years now, and as an RPer I'm not really interested in the constant power-struggles that place has. No one can step in and do anything for certain, and so it doesn't want to work. Community leadership doesn't work when things need to get done. You need someone who is going to make decisions, and there just isn't anyone there that can do that and make the place move forward.

So... yeah... >.>
