Jung's room is decently-sized, with dark blue walls and a soft gray carpet. The room has grown up with him, and it's quite neatly kept, with his wrinkled comforter pulled up to his pillow and nothing on the floor that doesn't belong there. His parents don't spend much time keeping track of how clean their children keep their rooms, but he knows that there are consequences for being a mess, anyway.

There were consequences for the tattoos, too, and for Haneul when he decided to become, of all the terrible things, a tattoo artist, but Jung is fairly unimpressed by his parents' ideas about punishment. His aunt in Korea has called them soft more than once. It's a good thing, as far as he's concerned.

if he stayed he'd never be able to go visit family in korea or just hang out for a summer
