Well, sort of... it IS on the inside, but you can see its shape; it makes the area around your lower lip stick out farther.

Yeah... it's kinda hard to explain. Dunno if you're going to get one, but I did... it's this piece of wire which goes between your teeth and your lower lip, to keep your lip from touching your teeth, I guess. It's a bit like a retainer, but there's no plastic part that goes on the roof of your mouth or under your tongue.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If they tell you to do something, you should do it... I made the mistake of not wearing my lip-bumper thing, and it tacked on an extra six months to my time.

You're getting braces? Aw, I'm sorry... it's not very fun. The first week is really painful, then after that you get used to it, but it's such a pain getting bits of food stuck in there and having to brush your teeth every time you eat anything. =P Mine took about three years, but my teeth were REALLY messed up. Hopefully it'll be over quicker for you. And actually, I had to go in today and get a retainer. So it's not quite over for me yet.
