Quite frankly, Snappy, that really is exactly what I needed to hear.
I truly thought he was my own gift from God. That's why I've been refusing to let go. But after reading your two cents, I realise that it wasn't real at any point... just two naiive teenagers who were blinded in infatuation.

Here, I'll give you a short version. Then, I'm going to go to bed to sleep off the emotional turmoil.

Anyway.

Back in 09, I had a phenomenal bf (which I didn't realise at the time.)
About a year and a half into our relationship, he asked me if we could get married when we were older and more mature.
He asked me three different times, and I shot him down.
The following month, I worked at all costs to avoid him; give him the impression I didn't want anything to do with him.
I felt like he had hurt me, so I dumped him.
Present day comes, and I realise what a mistake I'd made.
Looking back on it, I realise he didn't do anything to me, except be the best boyfriend he could be.
But I wasn't having any of it. I had it set in my mind that he was like all the others, and his only purpose was to hurt me.
So I ended up breaking my own heart and then shattering his to get even.
I stayed mad for another year until I came to the revelation above.
I decided to try and make things right and apologise, but we ended up going back out for another month.
Then he dumped me. When I asked why, he told me it was because he felt that he wasn't capable of loving me ever again and I needed to know how he felt.
I would cry to Jesus every day about it because I really felt that he'd be the one I'd end up marrying.
I prayed for patience and a sound mind, wisdom, forgiveness, and for my broken heart to be mended once again.
Months have passed by, and I'm still waiting on what to do.
