my mother now thinks I'm a godless, slutty criminal because I have one Lady Gaga song in my library and one rap song, which isn't even a rap song but is actually a parody. (White & Nerdy, it is. Hilarious stuff.) Anyway, she called me a slut and a gangster and all of that and ordered me to "get that smut off your computer."
Let me analyze this from a sane perspective for you.
-Godless, slutty criminal? ME?! Come on, Mom. It's time we all admit that you're batshit insane.
-1 Lady Gaga song. Yes, I know she's a "disgusting person," I just like one of her songs. You don't have to like a musician to like one of their songs.
-Also, I didn't even have the song labelled as saying who it was sung by. (Incidentally, it was Paparazzi.) If we're all supposed to be such innocent people, how do YOU know it's a Lady Gaga song, Mrs. Prudent Moral Mother?
-On to the rap song. As I said, it's not even a real rap song. It's a parody. Meaning it's making fun of gangster people. Mom hates gangster people. Logically, she would approve of the song. But, then again, why would logic ever apply to a situation like this?
-No, Mom, he's not singing about guns and drugs like a real rap song. He's singing about Pascal and vector calculus. Maybe you ought to listen to the lyrics, you know.
-EVEN if none of the above were true about the song, and it were a real rap song...
IT'S ONE SONG OUT OF MY ENTIRE LIBRARY.
86.31% of my iTunes library is classical. 8.52% of it is electronic. 5.16% of it is rock. (yes, calculated it myself)
And Mom chooses to berate me about the 2 songs she doesn't approve of?! The .01%?
Does it strike you that there's something wrong with that?
-She said "get that smut off your computer." Since when is a song smut? Neither of the songs contain any explicit lyrics. As usual, she's exaggerating the problem. (If there is a problem at all... and I don't think there is.)

This is the s**t I have to put up with each and every day. No kidding.

So do you have any ideas and advice of ways I can cope with this stuff?
