Haha, money is good! But wow, a month seems like a long time. eek

So I'm reading my novel, right? And Rin just transferred to Haruka and Makoto's class, and they're talking to him outside by the pool next to this giant sakura tree. Then the chapter ends (It was only like 10 pages), and the next thing I know there's this whole page talking about this shrine in this sea port town and it's history and how the town depends on its fields for food and so in order to preserve the land they crammed all their houses onto paths in the woods and the mountain side and off to the side of the stone steps leading to the shrine, and the temple exists to be thankful for the harvest and safety of the fisherman...and all that was just to say that Haruka's house was off to the left about halfway up the steps to the shrine. I had to look up so many kanji and was so confused about how why we were talking about this shrine in the first place. crying

So we learned how そうです can mean that you heard something in class on Friday (which I didn't know), and I totally just saw it used like that in my novel. eek

And it's SO frustrating because it's going to take even longer to guru it even though I clearly know what it is. Sometimes wanikani drives me crazy. stare

Well, just imagine having classes until midnight and having to wake up at like 5. That would be worse. biggrin

I tend to look up some too if I remember it a slightly different way to make sure that's correct, then add my definition as a user synonym. Or when, like earlier, I said the radical 申 was "humbly say" instead of "say humbly" and got it wrong. stare

Oh, I gotcha! I didn't realize you had other classes that ran late as well. Do you have to get up early the next day usually? And ugh, I hate that so much when you're ridiculously tired but for some reason your body won't let you sleep. stare

Holy crap, I hadn't even looked! That's a lot of new stuff! It makes sense now that I suddenly had new lessons when I got home. xd

I can see why you had trouble with level 11, though. I only did two rounds of lessons tonight (14 new things, since I have mine set at 7 items per session), and it was almost all stuff I haven't seen before. sweatdrop

So far it's relatively normal, but it has been mentioned that they have "special skills" and I remember Shuji saying that it's kinda like Prince of Tennis, so I'm sure it'll get crazy as the series goes on. xd

How's work going? Did your bosses ever come back from Brazil?

It really is nice to see that I really am getting better at Japanese. mrgreen

Now every time they refer to this guy they call him "Dad" and I can't help but laugh. rofl

What's the series about? It's about this first-year high schools student named Kuroko who joins the school's basketball team. His skill is that he has no presence so he's basically invisible to most people until he steals the ball and they're like, "Wait, where the heck did that guy come from?" And I guess in middle school there was this school who's team had these five players called "The Generation of Miracles" and Kuroko was the "phantom sixth player" that no one ever really saw, and his goal is to beat the other five genius guys that he used to play with. I dunno, it's interesting so far.

So I'm reading the manga Kuroko no Basuke (which is actually quite good so far), and on an opposing team there's a transfer student from Senegal (where the hell is that?) named Papa Mbaye Siki. The main characters couldn't pronounce his name so they nicknamed him "Dad" since his first name is "Papa". xd

I thought the year was pretty much double the price of a semester. o.O

I have no idea what the actual reading level is. I mean, there are still quite a few kanji I don't know, but there are also times when I can read multiple sentences in a row without having to look anything up, which is definitely an improvement. xd

LOL!!! I'm sure they turned out awesome. International shipping is expensive, but at least they're small so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Aw man, really? Well, at least you only need one for one semester instead of the whole year, right?

I took a quick look at TextFugu, it definitely seemed too low-level. sweatdrop

Also, I'm really glad I got this Free! novel (which I guess is what the anime was based on, and it's basically them in elementary school while the anime is them in high school). It's way closer to my reading level. 3nodding
