Tell 'em UNT instead, if they reject that one for certain. User Image

I understand their concern about letting you go out-of-state, but I wish you luck all the same, bub.

It's far enough to make all the difference, believe-you-me. But I digress. My closest experience with a tornado was in Waco which is pretty far south of me now but pretty far north of you as well.

Congratulations, bud! :

So, I was thinking about the whole tornado thing and it occurred to me that you're probably too far south for it to be a problem and too far north to be affected much in the unlikely event that a hurricane came through (except by traffic jams and a storm, here and there). I have special reason to bring this up tonight as my county is under a tornado watch for another hour and a half.

I'm not worried though, they make a distinct sound so I'll know they're coming from literally miles away.

I was the priest at a Gaian wedding today. <3 I'm so proud. Sorry if that sounds lame or something, sometimes I'm just happy to have friends. I'm weird like that.

Well, if you don't know anybody down here already, I'd be glad to hang out with you whenever you're up in the northern parts of the state.

Yeah, I still feel guilty about that. I at least had the good grace to forego my own Christmas presents to alleviate the money problem I'd caused. I know I'm 22, but my parents won't let me get a job because I have to go to the hospital a lot and it's hard enough sticking through college without one.

I got a $1600 phone bill in 2006, then my girlfriend switched to the same service as me so it isn't quite so bad anymore.

My cell phone charges me per message, and I have delete each message manually. It's all a great big pain in the a**.

I was debating on whether to see that or not. I think I'll wait for it to come out on HD PPV though. It's cheaper, HD, can be paused, and watched repeatedly. And I'm crazy-patient, so I can wait. Also, I wish Gaia would alert me to profile comments. ._.

Yeah, I'm going to take a nap and read for awhile while I'm still a little drugged up. Later, man.

Honestly? Kinda. They usually test them about once a month. I have a tendency to freak out if they test it on an unfortunately stormy or windy day, but I've ceased to worry about tornadoes entirely. More just vigilant than anything else, the way you're vigilant when you drive a car but accept that you still might get into an accident anyway.

If the warning goes off, just head to the bathroom and duck down in the bathtub and try to cover yourself with a mattress. That's the drill we usually get.

Hurricanes aren't a problem. When they come, they usually hit Florida, Cuba, or Mexico first. I'll be honest with you though, we do have to worry about tornadoes sometimes. Mostly during the spring.

Some people don't even register that there are other places, other cities even, other than the main one in New York. Similarly, Texas isn't one single cultural blob in and of itself. West Texas is the most stereotypically "Texan" part of the state, but South Texas is more like Louisianna now since Hurricane Katrina. I was driving back home from college in Waco when Rita was coming back in our direction and fought through the traffic to get home. I still can't believe I made it.
