Many years ago, when all of mankind was in peace. All of the mystical animals were alive, and in peace aswell. A mother and a father, soon gave birth to a legend. This legend lived for many years, and just recently died. The ashes used to make many more children, in hopes, that one day, the world will be in peace again.

Welcome to the long awaited Legend of the Tale writing contest. The main thread is located here if you wish to find out more information. Please read the thread thoroughly, and thank you for your participation.

Keep in mind, this semi-custom Legend up for grabs is a bit different. While you would normally only send in the concept and the artist would work from that, you are allowed to pick up to three traits of your Legend to keep and have when they come into existence!

Please do your best to try and not tear your hair out waiting for results.

entrance fee of 1000g

The first round will open on January 4 @ 12am EST and will end on January 11 @ 12pm EST. Prompts will go up the day the contest opens! Make sure to have your entries in by the deadline!

All entrants must pay the entrance fee of 1000g to enter. Send all trades to the shop mule: jacknblack. You may post your entries as soon as you've sent the trade. Remember to confirm it once we do, otherwise your entry will become null and void when judging commences!
Guardians can write up entries and post them, but they CANNOT win. If a guardian wants to respond to a first round prompt, it's merely for fun. Only those without Legends will be passed to the second round, so guardians cannot post responses to the prompts after round one in the thread.
No discouraging others from entering. It's not nice or right. If anything, encourage -- not discourage!
On a similar note, please keep cheerleading to a minimum. We know you want to show you're support for a certain someone, but it can be discouraging to others.
Check the drama at the door. Hi. Your local Legend of the Tale staff would like you to play nicely with others and keep all shapes, forms, and sizes of drama out of the writing contest thread. If we see any, we will NOT be pleased.
If you have any questions please post them in the writing contest thread. They will get handled much faster than if you, say, PM them to the shop mule.
Respect the deadlines. We are giving you plenty of time to get entries in. If you do not get an entry posted within the allotted time, it will NOT be accepted. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
You can write to your heart's delight. There is no set length for contest entries. Remember, however, quality is preferred over quantity.
The winner of the contest will PM their concept to the shop mule. Keep in mind, however, that the shop staff may PM you back in regards about it. ( If it is too close to an existing legend, concerns we have, etcetera. )
Above all else: HAVE FUN. It's an order, <3.

Rules may be modified at any time, without warning.

PROMPT A

Your darling baby Legend is growing up into a toddler that is quite the handful. They're overactive and prone to wanting to stay up all hours of the night -- and then promptly stay up all hours of the day. You can't seem to keep up with them if you tried, especially when you lose sleep because of them.

Things come to a head, however, when your Legend starts to exhibit strange powers. It seems that whatever latent ability your Legend has are sporadically becoming active and they're putting them to use in their "playing". It becomes apparent, however, that these powers are a bit too much for a toddler to use and potentially dangerous to those around them. Something needs to be done and your toddler needs to be calmed down. Never mind you have to figure out a way to contain those powers before something goes seriously wrong.

PROMPT B

One day, out on a walk, your Legend finds an injured animal and brings it home for you to tend to it. Your Legend quickly becomes attached to the animal, but it's clear to you that the poor thing won't likely make it. You do not say anything to your Legend, however, and let them continue on with their excited chatter about potentially keeping the animal once it's back to health.

A few days later, however, the animal dies and both you and your Legend make a little grave for it. This death brings about a change in your Legend. Describe the change that is brought about over them, what exactly about the death of the animal that caused it, and how the change affects both them and all those around them.

PROMPT C

Late one night you receive a knock on your door. An officer promptly pushes your teenage Legend forward ( who you had thought was in bed sleeping ) and quickly tells you that they were found committing an act of vandalism. This is, however, just another crime they've committed in a long string of them that seems to be a rebellious streak you can't begin to understand. Your Legend has become angry and bitter as a teenager and you're uncertain what caused it.

It can't simply just be that they're a teenager -- the things they do are rapidly getting more aggressive and dangerous as time passes. What do you do about this? How do you stop your Legend or do they stop themselves? What's causing all of this and what exactly is going on here? Something must be done before the Legend totally ruins their life or gets killed.
