Hello ladies and gentlemen.
I am here to announce since we havn't gotten an announcment about The mistletoe that it is gone maybe forever.
But, we can solve that problem!
If you want the mistletoe event to come back put this in your siggy.

I don't think it's a good idea, personally... Last year, the mistletoe thing was basically a test for Hangouts, I think; I mean, both having two avatars standing side by side and the kissed animations got carried over into Hangouts, didn't they?

But now that Hangouts is gone, I don't think it would work. There's really not enough space for two avatars in the top right corner in the new layout, either. Not to mention that the admins would have to rewrite the whole mistletoe feature really quickly. o_O
